Saw this one pretty recently, a detective is hired to investigate the murders of various girls that sold lottery tickets (in Europe I'm pretty sure). The movie sounds pretty mundane, but it turns out to be set in some sort of dystopia, the cities were all filled/made of junk. I can't really remember a lot of it, but it was in Comcast's OnDemand under the free movies section pretty recently, as in a month or two ago.

I saw this horror movie that was made a few years ago, I think it was British. It was split up into three or four parts, with each part having a different tone. The first part was an intense thriller, the second was a bizarre comedy, and the last part was a romance or something dramatic like that. I remember it not being very good, and that others mostly felt that way too, but I can't remember the title of the movie. It may or may not have had zombies.

Alright, this is going to be super vague but I'll try my best: there was a tape I used to get a lot from the library that was this short movie with puppets. It definitely wasn't directly Muppets-related, but I guess it could have been a Jim Henson thing. I think I remember that the main character was a dragon or dinosaur, but that might be totally wrong. I think the title had the main character's name in it. Pretty sure a lot of it took place in a forest and he might have been looking for something in it? I also think I remember there was a talking fountain or wall covered in vines or something. And at one point he might have been in a cabin. Any of this could be completely wrong but hopefully there's enough in there to give someone even a slight idea.

e: Also I'm pretty sure there was singing.
e2: If I had to guess this would be like late 80s, maybe early early 90s.
e THREE: I keep thinking of Horton Hears a Who when I try to remember the name, so now I'm thinking its name might be similar to that. Like "(Character Name) Somethings a Something"

Hello folks, just found this thread and hope it can answer a query I've had for years but no amount of Googling, Binging, Yahoo!ing or anything has helped. This memory is pretty vague but if anyone could help me out that'd be great.

I saw this movie in the UK about 0200 one morning sometime in the mid-90s, thinking back it seemed like it was probably a B-movie or TV movie. It's set some time in the future, late 21st Century maybe, everyone in the US has a "band" they have to wear on their heads to either suppress intelligence, or increase it, to a kinda average level, the general idea being to give everyone the same level of ability in everything and keep the population nice and submissive.

There's this one dude in school, about 17 or 18 years old, who keeps getting higher than average scores in his tests, despite wearing the band and despite his teachers' best efforts to get him to achieve averageness. Eventually, they realise that this "band" business isn't going to be able to do the job, and he gets secreted away to some government underground facility where people like him, those whose intelligence could not be suppressed by the "band", are given free reign to develop themselves without the hindrance of intelligence suppression.

I think he develops a relationship (probably forbidden) with one of the female smarty-pants there, and at some stage they rebel against the order in the facility and ultimately gets himself on TV and calls for everyone to "take off their bands" and allow themselves to be free of the tyranny of submission. There might have been a mention somewhere of a "Second American Revolution" but I'm not clear on this.

If anyone has the faintest notion of what the gently caress this is, I'd be forever in debt to you. Cheers.

I'm trying to remember the name of a movie. It's set in some Antarctic research base and a bunch of university students fly out there as part of their courses. When they get there a couple of black trilobite/insect creatures start killing people one-by-one. Eventually the survivors have a face-off against a massive monster in a basement lab. What's unique about this film is that every time somebody dies, it shows a rapidly-flashing montage of scenes featuring that character, kinda like a "life flashing before my eyes" thing.

I seem to remember the title having something to do with cold in it - Deep Freeze or Cold Terror or some such.

I generally have a pretty good memory when it comes to the billions of movies I've seen, but there are four that have bothered me forever - enduring mysteries that keep me awake at night. So lemme longpost about this poo poo.

First is a movie I saw as a kid, when chilling with a friend's family at a hotel on vacation. The older kids in the group I guess had rented this movie, and I came in late. The only scene I saw was where this group of kids were walking on a train track and one of them got their foot stuck in between the rails when the switch moved, or some poo poo, and couldn't get out while his friends yelled and watched helplessly. I don't remember if he got run over or what, but that scene stuck with me forever, I guess because at the time I thought it was pretty hosed up that a kid not much older than me was gonna get run over by something as hardcore as a train. Up until that point, the most "violent" concepts I'd seen on film were stuff like Indiana Jones.

Second is a movie that I for years assumed to be animation from Japan, but I saw it way before anime really caught on - maybe 10 or 15 years ago - so it could have been from anywhere. To the best of my recollection, it has minimal or no dialogue, and features a boy on a motor-scooter hurrying away in a panic as the city around him turns into walking, wiry, robots with lots of exposed girders and turning cogs and poo poo.

The third movie I haven't actually seen, except in the form of an animated gif that sometimes crops up around here, featuring a chick fiddling with a Hellraiser-like puzzle box. Suddenly, lightning flashes in the window behind her, and some wiggly-faced Jacobs Ladder demon appears in the window and screams, maybe exploding the glass. I think somebody said it was from a movie called "The Puzzle", but I've never found any movie by that name that sounds like it would feature such a scene. It's also not any Hellraiser movie.

Fourth is a long shot, as I only remember a very brief moment from it. I saw it on the bus during a high school senior trip to D.C., so it would have been like, 2002-ish though the movie could have been a bit older. It had a scene about some sort of heist (I think), and this one possibly raver/punk guy starts, like, fuckin' breakdancing and spinning around on the floor while also shooting at the guards or whatever. I remember it having a flashy aesthetic and just being absurd, and at least one overhead shot of this guy breakdancing and shooting in slow-mo as if it were some seriously cool moment.

I saw a (possibly made-for-tv) horror movie on USA in the mid 90's. The film looked to be from the 90's or late 80's. I think it was an office slasher. All I saw was the ending. Final Girl and Nerd Guy are staring at each other and laughing it up after supposedly killing the bad guy. The Nerd is staring toward the camera when the elevator right behind him opens, the killer pops out and buries a fire axe in the Nerd's back. I don't remember how Final Girl beat him, but the next scene has her in the Nerd's hospital room. He should have a bandage over his chest but I think he just has one over his head that makes him look goofy, but I could just be confusing the face bandage with Platoon Leader.

What I am sure of is that Nerd is lying in his hospital bed while Final Girl holds his hand and they laugh it up because hatchet wounds are hilarious. The camera then cuts to the hallway outside the hospital room. The camera is focused on the room's door and we can see a guard sitting in a chair to the left ( I think he's reading a newspaper). For the rest of the movie, the camera holds this shot. Then a person just walks up to the door and enters. The door closes behind him and we hear screams coming from inside the room. Guard rushes in, door closes behind him and we hear gunshots and more screams. The camera hasn't moved from out of the hallway. Cut to credits.

I might have messed some of the details up but I am positive that there is a closeup shot of the Nerd laughing to the camera while the villain axes him from behind and the final scene being a shot of the hospital door from the hall while the heroes are killed off screen.

This isn't that one Friday the 13th where Tommy ends up at the hospital, becomes Jason, and kills the Final Girl.

This one has been killing me for awhile.

I'm pretty sure it was an 80's horror movie about a small town. This kid lived on a farm outside town and started noticing people acting weird. So he investigates and finds these giant brown monsters are taking everyone underground where they have some sort of a brain in a jar that is erasing their memories. They had a giant underground lab and the brain reminded me of a movie version of Krang from TMNT.I think one of his female teachers believes and goes down with him. He sees his family get brainwashed and tries to escape, only to get captured. He's about to get brainwashed but he wakes up. His parents come into his room to see if he's ok and then one of the brown monsters barges in and takes them away.
