Also, I forgot - Big Business and Austerity Program both have new albums out that nearly dodged my radar. The Big Biz is amazing and I love it a lot. This month is beyond ridiculous (like every month, apparently, but no really, I mean it this time)

I wouldn't call it brilliant but I'm still enjoying it. I would love for them to go back to concept albums, but stuff like The Motherload, Asleep in the Deep, and Ember City are catchy as hell. Didn't they say they would be releasing another album's worth of material later this year or early next?

The top three will always be Blood Mountain, Leviathan, and Crack the Skye.

New Mastodon is a good album for me, just different to what the widely accepted 'best' albums are. It's miles better than The Hunter, so there's that.

Apparently they recorded 90 minutes worth of stuff and only 60 of it is on the album so they might release an EP later in the year.

e: Minot seems pretty cool too. Not really stoner/doom/sludge, but it's some nice instrumental post-rockish stuff with a bit of energy.

E: Thou was excellent by the way! They only played 4 songs (two I didn't recognize, Into The Marshland, and In Defiance of Sages) but it rocked. Lots of good banter too, some people had dogs walking around and Thou proclaimed they hated dogs and were cat people.

I'm feeling it, so hard. SWD hit me like a freight train when I first heard it, but after spinning this a few times now with the volume turned way the hell up, it's way better than anything they did before SWD. But hey, let's see how that changes over my next 500 plays of it. Probably helps that I'm miserable as hell myself today.

The guitar tone is loving filthy on Miserable, it sounds like their amps were on the verge of blown speakers the entire recording process. Fits the title!
