I think it's supposed to be a language map, not an ethnicity map. Though it has similar problems re: minorities.

Monolithic Myanmar and Thailand are frankly insulting.

Also I can't help but feel the "Chinese" tendrils in Xinjiang and Northern Tibet are mostly empty desert and mountains.

It's not "Han=Chinese." It's "Mandarin=Chinese" which is actually worse. Cantonese and the other southern languages/dialects are spoken by people who are Chinese in every sense of the word and use the same written language. I'm also dubious about the "Chinese" areas on the map because Mandarin is hardly the only North Chinese language.

I wonder how could the Evenki get so lost in the middle of Siberia not far from the Urals if they are native to that region next to Manchuria. There's nothing too interesting there AFAIK

I thought it was weird how they went out of their way to show all the native Siberian languages with 20,000 speakers each, but in Indonesia everyone speaks the same language. I know transmigrasi is a thing but I don't think they've succeeded in eradicating every minority group quite yet

They might be, otoh northeastern siberia is so sparsely inhabited that you could probably paint a huge chunk of it one color just for a cluster of ten villages in the middle of nowhere

XKCD ruined this type of maps for me forever.

It was already skeptic, because google customize searchers to your previous story, so if you do this incorrectly, is more a mirror of yourself than anything universal.

They are still full of mystery. Why alucard, mario, god of war, mr cheff, bayoneta... of all things?.

Wait a second, theres a playable alucard? where? in dark souls?, this is demazia.

These maps mix anti-semitic views with anti israel government opinions. Israel itself is probably painted 22-28%.

Questions like:
"Do you disagree with a recent decision taken by the Israel government?"

They're probs Jewish stereotypes more in the vein of Jews are shifty and/or control the banks than that they should be destroyed.

Could be the majority language in the area, so Tagalog obscures smaller languages like Hiligaynon, but Siberia has no Russians anyway so they get tons of small ones.

Well technically 200 mph is 1 sig fig so its true conversion would be 100 mph.

The questions were:

quote:

I am now going to read out a series of statements, some of them you may think are true and some of them you may think are false. Please say which ones you think are probably true and which ones you think are probably false. [RANDOMIZE]
  1. Jews are more loyal to Israel than to [this country/to the countries they live in]
  2. Jews have too much power in the business world
  3. Jews have too much power in international financial markets
  4. Jews still talk too much about what happened to them in the Holocaust
  5. Jews don't care what happens to anyone but their own kind
  6. Jews have too much control over global affairs
  7. Jews have too much control over the United States government
  8. Jews think they are better than other people
  9. Jews have too much control over the global media
  10. Jews are responsible for most of the world's wars
  11. People hate Jews because of the way Jews behave
(source)

There was also a Holocaust denial question and a question on opinion of Israel and if the said opinion affects the respondent's opinion of Jews, but the page explaining the index makes it sound like only those 11 questions above counted.

These missiles are defensive.

USA have a lot of them, in the hands of a person with a narcissist disorder, and we don't see people around scared of nukes.

North Korea is not going to fire a nuke at San Francisco has soon they can. Nations want nukes, because the moment you have nukes, you can do whatever you please without getting invaded.

Nuclear power is not going to be more expensive and harder to recreate in the future, but easier. Every nation that want nukes will have nukes. So every nation will end having nukes.

But, of course, USA is fighting against the proliferation of nukes. USA defend the idea that "if everyone have gunsnukes, accidents are more prone to happen".

USA believe that is a bad thing if everyone have gunsnukes, and defend that idea. Is kind of "don't do what I do" kind of moral position..
