Jamwad Hilder posted:One thing that does make the Cathay part of the world more interesting is that Tamurkhan is just as scary and as big of a steamroller in the hands of the AI as he is with a player. Having him roll out of the mountains with like 6 stacks, turning the ground into barf, is a lot to deal with. Nurgle armies are a real slog to fight too and I usually lose a few provinces to them before I can turn it around. Worst thing is he takes forever to defeat too, because if you want to fully get rid of him you have to march through the mountains all the way up to the chaos wastes because he usually has like 20 settlements. Yeah hes annoying to fight esp due to having to march through the wastes to finish him off. Attrition + buildtime maluses ftl.

IDK I started a Zhatan campaign and Grimgor instantly pushed Tamurkhan's poo poo in, then he declared on me as well so I beat him up and saved Tamurkhan's rear end. I didn't do anything with him diplomatically though because I wanted to kill him to avoid plagues but half of Cathay was at war with me at this point so I couldn't spare the time, and ever since he's just sat on 3 regions for 65+ turns doing nothing lol. Not even making plagues so I didn't bother moving back north to headhunt him.

Dysgenesis posted:Gonna make Vilitch pay for the wall. I mean, literally, ya, killing his armies and sacking/raiding his lands is good for that, but I prefer to burn him out and let Norsca or chorfs or literally anyone else take it just because his mechanics are annoying AF. More than once I've gotten into some weird alliances with what's his name the Black up there from burning out chaos there and just selling the lands to him. If he gets uppity you just burn him out, force peace, then sell them back again, and half the time if you're playing as miao he will hate the Norsca invasion as much as you from all the trespassing and raiding, so you can pull him into wars with them, use agents to weaken his settlements, take back the ones he loses and sell them off again. Or keep a perma buffer zone and smack down the tired army that dares to colonize in striking distance. The one thing I really appreciate about TOW mod is the increased distance between settlements really makes you think about buffer zones and just selling poo poo settlements more, because defending your periphery is so much harder. North of the wall and the chaos wastes are some of the few exceptions to ABC for a lot of factions, and I think most players just don't consider overworld map positioning very hard. You can post strong and expensive stacks on the bastion for a deep discount, train lords up, and swap them to future front lines, especially with the skill reset. It owns, but works differently than 99% of the meta for the rest of the game.

Doing a Grom campaign, and I think the Hag's challenges are broken once you get all the slots, or the one I'm on is broken. She's asking for an either stinky or spicy burger, which is made from mushrooms+seafood/red+blue. There is a stink mushroom ingredient and a hellcap ingredient, but neither of them solve the quest. The hag also appears way more often than I remember in game 2. If you dally a enough turns before talking to her, you'll get an announcement that she's appearing in a new location, but she will still just be at her previous location. Star Total Wars. It makes sense. In this genre there's been: Rebellion (enormous potential, would like to see someone revisit it) Galactic Battlegrounds (Age of Star Wars Empires) Force Commander (not great, but also had some really good ideas) Empire at War (a Petryglyph game, still very popular). There's always been an eye from Lucasarts on the next Star Wars strategy game (at least in the period when EA didn't have the exclusive rights which they did nothing with)

Easily doable depending on how strictly LucasArts wants to adhere to the movies and whether they're doing different time periods or not.

Did the animal type units (dire wolves, bats, etc) get a mechanical buff somewhere along the way? Wolves have always been excellent for flanking, wiping out routing units, etc but now you can just charge em directly to the front of infantry and they'll do not bad at that too, and just mulch ranged

I'm curious how they will handle stuff like TIEs or capital ships. Unlike most of TWWH flying units they are all ranged and don't really hover that much. Are they going to be off-map strafing-run call-ins? E: rather, I mean that TIEs don't hover and capital ships can't meaningfully interact with infantry-sized ground troops beyond bombardment. Of course, if true they probably aren't going to have access to the old legends stuff. And theres no chance of this but it would be extremely funny/cursed if the avoidance of naval battles extended to SW

if they build a framework for airstrikes and orbital call ins we're one step closer to total warhammer 40k... and also total cold war gone hot as a pseudo historical........
