A few years back I had obtained this somewhat of a demo cd that came with some music magazine but I'm not sure which one. I don't remember anything about the song except it was some kind of metal song. Though I do remember the cover art was mostly white and I think it had a picture of a medical surgery tray with a heart on it or maybe some kind of meat. I used to like a song on the cd a lot back when I got it but I've since then lost it and want to listen to it again.

Edit: Oh yeah. Another song I was looking for was shown to me by a friend earlier but I never saved it. All I remember was the music video and the song was another metalish song. Mostly what I remember about it though was the music video consisted the band playing in their back yard or something and randomly one of the guitarists walks out of an outhouse and starts playing with them.

I've been racking my brain the last few days trying to figure out some information about a song i know nothing about. It's played once in a while on my area's classic rock station, it consists of a happy, up-tempo acoustic guitar line that sounds vaguely Paul Simon-esque, and the singer sounds like it may be Stevie Nicks or Tracy Chapman. There's not many lyrics to the song, and the only line i can remember is "and then i woke up". Can anyone help me?

Un malheur ne vient jamais seul.
It's a longshot but I'm going nuts with this... I'm trying to remember a rap song that's one of those where one rapper makes a personal appeal to his friend to get his life together, and the chorus was something about the water, or getting back to the water. All I remember is that the group who did this song was famous, so that's why it's racking my brain that I can't remember it.

EDIT: I know it's not "Still" by the Geto Boys, if that helps at all.

Lucien, lucien you should know.
Looking for a miles davis song, possibly some kind of compilation as I remember it being about 10 minutes long.
The only memory I have of it was it being called something akin to "best miles davis", If anyone more familiar with miles davis' works could suggest a few songs I'd be thankful. If it helps it starts off pretty fast and is upbeat. *EDIT* found it by myself, "milestones".

Thanks for the attempt, but that's not it. I know and like King Crimson, minus the 1980s stuff (I really dislike music from that period).

It could be Rush or Yes, I don't really know either of those two bands. The voice is higher pitched, if I recall correctly. Definitely rather dominant [added: and, to me, annoying].

Extra added: The second part is rocking, repetitive, and intense rather than jazzy.

It has to be Tom Sawyer by Rush. I'm really surprised nobody got this yet, if its not that describe it a little bit more and I bet I could find it.

I was in a store in key west last week and there was this song on that was hilarious.. I asked the owner if he knew what it was called and he said it was: The Laughing Song by The Joker. I have searched and searched for it but can't find it. So far the only thing I have been able to find is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUw8YSfcbkc which is by DJ Joker and is called the laughing song. But this isn't it, it sounds like a remix of the song I am looking for. I don't really know how to describe it, but it is a techno or house mix of someone laughing over and over. IF anyone has any idea please let me know!

Can anyone tell me the name of a particular electronic pop song? The guy who made it was either French or Finnish or something like that, and the music video is a bunch of black and white samples of people playing weird instruments which are cut to match up with the music. When the vocals start, some kind of holy-roller religious speaker is shown, and these segments are also cut up to match the vocals. Throughout the video a single black dot is shown for a few frames every few seconds during the chorus I think, and near the end of the video every time they show the dots there are more of them and then they turn in to hearts. I think the song or video won some kind of award.

Crosspostin this from in a thread in ML;

Song from the 90's I believe, late 90's, rock with male vocals for the most part except for this one female vocal loop which was really sick in the band's single except through the album it got reeeeeeeeally old. I think the band's name is like a four letter acronym or at least looks like one (a.r.f.d. etc, four letters w/ periods). The following is the main hook, the chorus thingie is where the female vocal line would be, and then just guitar/bass

This is Bern City played by Brian Bromberg on the album "Brian Bromberg" (1993). I have two other versions of this song, one by "Bob Boykin & Firepower" on the album "Hazardous Material" and one by "Mike Thompson with Ernie Watts" on the album "Menagery".

I would really like to know who originally wrote/played this song. I have done a lot of googling and have not really found any information about it (but now know a lot about the German city of Bern).

Just heard this song on the radio, it sounds almost exactly like Passion Pit (especially Little Secrets) but the singer has a slightly less high voice. The chorus went something like "Things aint never gonna be the same, hey whoa look what you've done now".

Sorry, it's not Tom Sawyer! That one doesn't have two very distinct halves, one with vocals and which sounds quite distinctly 80's-progressive-rock-ish, and the other half being a very different, much more modern sounding non-vocal heavy rocking part.

I think maybe summarising it as "a progressive rock song with two very distinct halves, one including vocals and another without vocals and with a different tempo/rythm/etc." will make it easier to list possibilities.

But thanks a lot for the effort! :)

Alright, I don't have a lot to go on here. I was messing around with my guitar trying to memorize chords and I stumbled upon a song that I know I know, and is a really good song, but I can't loving remember who its by or what its called.

All I've got to go on is that I think its by an old punk band, probably english, and the chords for part of (the chorus I think? Maybe almost the whole thing) it are something like G,G,G,G,G,Eb,Eb,Eb.

I tried to recording myself playing that for you to hear but tindeck is telling me its not an mp3 when it clearly is. :bang:

My memory of this is foggy so some of these details may be wrong. I believe the song is from the early eighties. The music is a synth playing what sounds to be human voice going "ah ah ah ah ..." looped and in chord progressions. The singer's voice has been heavily electronically modified as well. It's a female singer and she sort of talks/sings. The song is very slow and airy for lack of a better description.

I remember a rap or possibly R&B video from the 90s with a black guy singing/rapping solemnly perhaps about someone who got killed. Anyways, the most memorable part is the singer dying and his entire eye turns this scary black color and he grows Angel wings. and I think there are a bunch of similar angels walking on a giant staircase and the sky is red.

Looking for specific information on a song and where I might be able to get it.

I think the artist was called Brother Grimm, the song might be named The Rose Tattoo.

I've only heard it on a college radio station, KMNR, during the late 80's early 90's.

The story was a guy picks up a girl at a bar and takes her back to his place. He wants to know the story about her tattoo rose. She pulls out a gun places it against his chest. She pulls the trigger. Bang, Bang, Bang-Bang-Bang. You're dead.

Thats about all I can remember from 20 years ago.

My google-fu has failed, what can you come up with for me?

This is going to be vague, forgive me. Its a song played at the end of a movie (recent, within the last ~5 years). It's a female voice with a string section. The closest comparison might be similar to the gladiator outro. With the end of the movie, it's somewhat sad, but also almost equally uplifting. Throw anything out there

The second part I do like, though, because it changes more or less completely into this heavy and intense, more modern sounding, repetitive non-vocal part, with emphasis on drums and very distorted guitars/bass.

It's probably quite well-known. Thanks for the help.

All I can say is that it is definitely by The Dandy Warhols, or at least some of it is (since it's apparently a mashup it could be more than one artist). I don't know the song but the style and male vocals are definitely Dandys. After doing a bit of googling my guess is that it's an individual track they released for Record Store Day, which is some kind of music celebration event. Here's a quote from their site:

Record Store Day posted:

This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances.

So I would guess that you have the correct artist/song title. I may be wrong though, it's just a guess, but it makes sense.
