Kansas and Boston were the bands I was thinking of when I read his descriptions, specifically something like Boston's "Foreplay / Long Time" although the instrumental part is first in that one which obviously contradicts his memory of the song.

Sorry, it's not Tom Sawyer! That one doesn't have two very distinct halves, one with vocals and which sounds quite distinctly 80's-progressive-rock-ish, and the other half being a very different, much more modern sounding non-vocal heavy rocking part.

I think maybe summarising it as "a progressive rock song with two very distinct halves, one including vocals and another without vocals and with a different tempo/rythm/etc." will make it easier to list possibilities.

But thanks a lot for the effort! :)

If you hadn't said prog rock, I'd throw out Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird which I guess I'm doing anyway on the off chance. Can you describe your song in relation to Free Bird?

I'm looking for a song based off a video. Video was few years ago and was maybe indie/pop/rock genre? not completely sure. It's basically a video with floating music notes, acting like bubbles or dandelions would do in the wind, floating through the skyline/power lines etc. I can not for the life of me remember the song, its was semi-catchy. I was thinking modestmouse or some poo poo but cannot put the lyrics together in my head. I've done google/youtube and can't seem to put a group or song name together. I'm going insane! any ideas?

gently caress now this is bothering me too. I'm thinking of a song where a guy starts walking out of a house, the camera is perpendicular to him and it focuses on him as he walks. A big part of it is him walking past birds on power lines, and the birds are arranged the same way musical notation would be. Is that the same one?

My memory is coming up with "Tiga" and "Walk down the street" but that's leading to nothing.

I'm looking for this old funk song that should be pretty easy for someone to name. The only thing I have to go by is at the end of the song the lyrics are something like "I love you, I love you, I neeeeed you baby". (That's an approximate)

The main recognizable tune in the song are trumpets blaring "dunnnnnnn dun nun DUN dun dunnnnnnn".

Hopefully it's easy to name, as it's not obscure at all. It's a very well known song but I just can't place the name right now and it's been bugging me for days.

Looking for an I believe recent pop song with a killer slide guitar. Don't really have anything else to go by. It doesn't sound like a pop song, but I've heard it a couple times now at parties so it isn't anything obscure.

These sound like remixes of several Dandy Warhols songs from their latest album "Earth to the Dandy Warhols": first "And then I dreamt of Yes", then "Talk Radio", "Love Song" and "Now You Love Me". Thanks for this by the way, I'm a pretty big fan and hadn't heard this yet.

I got this song off of an old 45. It's by Classics IV and it is called Poor People. It sounds so drat familiar that I'm almost positive that there is a popular cover of it or a rendition with different lyrics or something. I've tried googling the lyrics and I can't find anything. Does this sound familiar to anyone else?

I'm actually looking for a mash-up I listened to once of The Beatles' "Silly Love Songs" and an Eminem song--probably "The Real Slim Shady" or "Without Me."

Music starts at 58:40.

So what is it?

I'm trying to identify a recent hip hop track by (i think) jim jones. the beat is entirely dj scratches and i think there may be a female vocalist on the track as well. it was remixed really well by pitbull, too. it plays relatively frequently on hot 97 here in NYC.

ive already tried all the songs on hot 97s playlist and gone through jim jones' and pitbull's discographies to no avail. its possible its somebody else from dipset but im 99% sure its jim jones.

any help?

That melody sounds really similar. I don't know what instrument it is, it's from a dance track played in clubs. It sounds like the horns or whatever it is in Benny Benassi's Satisfaction, MGTM Kids, and Cascada Everytime We Touch (1 min in). Those three songs all have that sound effect that makes them sound really similar to the one I'm thinking of. (They were all ones I initially thought the song was)

edit: that's definitely the melody. It's got those horns(?) from the other songs I've mentioned playing the melody though, not a piano.

Second, a rock song with subdued verses and loud chorus, and the video's an animation, but no cartoonish, more like stop-motion collage, featuring people with animal heads or masks, and I think a series of decapitations, possibly brought about by birds of some kind.

I'm looking for a emo-y song containing the lyrics "My feet in the clouds, head on the ground" (or vice versa). Not Down by 311 or Where is My Mind by the Pixies. Googling doesn't help.
