Gold Coast wants IndyCar back

Marco is now officially a co-owner of the #98 (he will race in this series forever)

Piers Phillips, the guy that made Schmidt's team a contender lately, took a job to be RLL's team president

Suffer not the unclean to live.
Who were we trying to kid, with Mario and Michael backing him, Marco was gonna be in Indycar until a career-ending injury or he turns 50 no matter what. He'll show a flash of brilliance every three years and an announcer will say something like "could this be the Marco Andretti we've been waiting for?" for another couple of decades.

I really wonder how much different Marco would be if Hornish hadn't nicked him at the end of that 500. Like that really had to set a lovely tone for him moving forward.

I believe in the ‘60s and ‘70s USAC had “powder puff” races for women. The W series sounds like that but with better and less outwardly offensive marketing.

If the backers have the money to

  • Buy, prepare and maintain a bunch of equal cars
  • Hire and organize teams to take part for all these cars
  • Organize a series and its support staff
  • Get time as a support event alongside an/multiple existing major series
  • Promote and broadcast the series

Then isn’t that money better spent organizing (basically paying for placement) a group of young women into existing teams in existing junior formulae? Red Bull does it now. Mercedes do it. Plenty of other groups do it. You can brand all of the drivers and their cars in the same way, see how well those drivers compare against their contemporaries, and get them much better visibility than they’ll get with this W Series.

The only upside is that maybe someone really talented DOES come out of the race series, and then it stops being "powder puff." Kinda like what happened when women's MMA was a 3-minute-per-round sideshow, until enough fighters and spectators complained. Now women's MMA is contested under the exact same rules as men.

Replace him with Jeremy Shaw!

:flashfap:

They will need to extend the track again though. And I'm sure Supercars aren't going to happy about not being the marquee event. But bring it on!

They have a points paying race in Melbourne with the f1, fox would probably pay to televise the indy race in australia and a bit of that would filter down. This is ignoring the "not great" spot supercars finds itself in with Nissan bailing and the remaining being companies that have bailed on their domestic construction calling card.

Hopefully the Indy aero window is a bit more open than last year. I hear they're working on some rear wing wickers and possibly some more allowed angle to help, and hopefully the weather will cooperate and not be balls loving roasting to contribute to the racing not being crap

They missed the mark on the speedway aero package combined with the incredibly hot weather made for a good, but not great race. At least we got a first time winner who made it memorable
