A Beto volunteer didn't appreciate me asking about why Beto thought it was a good idea to call Abbott a socialist. Sounds like they are having a rough go of it.

I'm too out of the loop lately. For some reason, I thought I was in CD35, and that it was Rodriguez vs. Casar vs. Doggett. Turns out I'm in CD37, and Doggett is in that race with a bunch of newcomers. I would like to not vote for an older white guy, but I met Doggett once and he seems fine. Steady, constituent focused guy. I like his campaign slogan "works for us" because it could go either...he works hard for his district, or "eh...this is fine."i say swears online posted:the person who bet on boil water but no power outages made a fortune in that parlay What's wild to me is that after the storm prepping and now the boil water notice, it's still very possible to find bottled water in stores (at least stores outside of HEB), but the Gatorade (and generic equivalents) was GONE. My wife needed a lot of it for surgery recovery, but there was almost nothing left at the nearby Target and Walmart. Mistaken Frisbee fucked around with this message at 18:20 on Feb 7, 2022 |

In the grand scheme of things Doggett seems one of the better establishment Democrats. I'd be surprised if he even got a primary challenger from the left. If anything I'd expect some terrible Thatcher/Clinton type attempting to capitalize on people's idpol desires while dragging the party right. Though probably not this cycle.

He has a few challengers, maybe just because CD37 itself is a brand new district. I don't actually know much about the other folks yet - a quick glance at the voters' guide, they seem fine and similar enough to him. But agreeing, he seems like a safe choice and a decent politician, so I'll probably go that way. Representation matters a lot, so I lean towards queer candidates, female candidates, candidates of color, etc. in my default stance. But I also actually do read up on races and if there's a compelling reason to vote for the straight white guy, I'll vote for him. Because if two candidates look relatively equal, I'll lean in the direction of greater diversity. But if you're dealing with some Tim Sulak vs. Madeleine Connor election poo poo, you really don't want to gently caress that up and accidentally vote her into office, as folks did.

Hmm, I get electric through Pedernales, though other utilities are CoA and they all have the correct phone numbers, so I would hope they would get the info from there. I’ll have to look into it at some point. Maybe I’m just somehow on a different water supply and the map isn’t accurate or something.

What we don't acknowledge is that anti-bullying bills in Texas got stalled because of "religious freedom" to bully the gay kids. I think she just realizes in the clip, as she said it, that she may have gone too far being that explicit. I also wouldn't be surprised if she made up having a trans kid in class. But if she somehow did, I completely guarantee she let that kid get bullied.
