He spoke during the aftermath panel. He just said they freaked each other out with the LA thing and decided to take a break from their escapades for a while. Brent has also been having a problem with migraines and has not been on the show much this year.

He obviously (to me at least) had a bit of a substance abuse issue going on in LA

I still think it was hosed up he tried to get Artie to do coke at Bubba’s wedding. Even if he was joking.

Currently thinking about the way Richard Christie says "feller" during prank calls because it's important to appreciate the little things in life.

And they've had a whole 8 new episode since then.

I think it's because he has terrible grammar and says everything with a hick accent but says "feller" instead of "fella" which is like the only time pronouncing a word wrong is acceptable and more common than the correct pronunciation so of course he has to be backwards with that. It's great.

howard is savvy enough to proclaim his love for bernie while backing bloomberg who he loves because howard is still deathly afraid of black youths and feels safe when they get harassed daily by the police howard is also out of touch enough not to realize how cringe worthy that clinton interview was though also howard probably thinks bloomberg is the ideal boss because he is the one guy in nyc who treats his staffers even worse than himself Percelus fucked around with this message at 00:42 on Feb 20, 2020 |

Percelus posted:howard is savvy enough to proclaim his love for bernie while backing bloomberg who he loves because howard is still deathly afraid of black youths and feels safe when they get harassed daily by the police It makes me laugh when he says "we need to nominate someone middle-of-the-road to beat Trump" when that's exactly how Trump got elected. Hillary was a centrist which is why turnout was pathetic for her. I don't understand how Trump gets to be an extreme right-wing dictator but to beat him we need to nominate someone who is moderate. Obama was called a socialist a thousand times a day starting in 2006 and managed to win loving Florida. It annoyed me so bad when Jason was in the studio like two weeks ago completely agreeing with Howard. Jason always presented himself as some huge progressive liberal but maybe he was just sucking up to Howard. While Howard's politics are pretty lovely, at least he acknowledges that being pro-death penalty is an emotional stance and not an educated one, and that ultimately it's wrong. He has also said once or twice that we should have universal health care because "every other country has it, why can't we?". I also remember him saying it a few times when he talked about how he has health insurance but still gets thousands of dollars in bills in the mail. So he kinda sucks but not completely.

A lot of his wealth is sirius stock which he is prohibited from dumping so ... whatever the stock says But I’d bet he has at least 10 mill in real estate alone

Howard has been making over $80mil a year for a long time now and probably owns $100mil in real estate alone. I also think he bought/retained ownership of his pre-Sirius content. Those overinflated websites say he is worth $650mil, but it's pretty realistic that he is worth at least $300mil.

euphronius posted:Doesn’t he have it produce the show with that money Not sure. I was under the impression that after that first $500m deal with all the stock and lawsuits, his current deal is mostly a cash salary (though he is an independent contractor and not an employee of Sirius). Trade papers have him labelled as earning $80m/year, so it might still be $100m/year - $20m in production costs. The other "big names" on the show (Fred, Robin, Gary) are independent as well, so I don't think their salary comes out of any money given to Stern that would then be spent on production. He has made it clear he has no involvement in their contract discussions, so I doubt they are subcontracting through him.

What was with Robin claiming that they played the Friends theme song when they were at WNBC? That song didn't exist until 1994. She's only off by ten years. I wish that robinswrong site still existed. Always good for a laugh.

Yeah, I caught that one too. By the time that song was a hit, they had been on Krock for a a few years, where they didn't play ANY music. Besides Rachel Butera, do we know who the other female creatives are on the staff? Or does Rachel do ALL of the female voices?

Originally, the Stern show was predicated on the idea that ANYONE working for the show, no matter how tangential, could be a personality. Why did they decide they needed a gatekeeper on this aspect of the show?

I’ve often thought about that but can’t make much sense of it My hunch is that the not on air writers are paid under some different arrangement which precludes on air work
