Anyone have anything similar to Black Tongue? Every time I put on their stuff I just go HOLY gently caress. It never ceases to amaze me how goddamn HEAVY their music is...I haven't been able to find anything else that just crushes the way their music does.

If anyone wants a less chaotic, British Dillinger Escape Plan in their life, they should check out the new Palm Reader album. And the first one. They're good.

I've been listening to Haste the Day lately...and...they're a weird band I think. One of the few where I can say that they got way better as they went along, and getting rid of the original vocalist was the right move. Dreamer and Attack of the Wolf King are real solid albums. I missed the boat on them back in the day, so I'm just listening to a lot of this stuff for the first time.

The original two Haste The Day albums are some of the best metalcore albums of all time and everything with the second singer sucks poo poo. e: went to check out that Wolf whatever album just to make sure my opinion isn't unfairly swayed by nostalgia. Nope. Sounds exactly like what I imagine some August Burns Red/Evergreen Terrace ripoff band would sound like. No originality. The original vocalist had a blood gurgling Zao-inspired sound, and the music was more melodic hardcore/rock and roll than Gothenburg-style metalcore (When Everything Falls is definitely more metal, though) The melodic vocals on the first two albums perfectly complimented the screams of the main vocalist. American Love is an immaculate song. If you never got back together with your gf after a breakup and used it as your personal anthem then I don't even know what you listen to this kind of music for. Speaking of Haste the Day, they have a song from their new album up on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuapO1Wjpx0 I just found out they're playing an NYC show in a few weeks. I'm skeptical if they'll play anything from the first two albums, but I feel that since it's an extremely limited run of shows they'll have to bust out at *least* one or two. Probably mostly songs off the new album, then like one from each preceding one.

Some good chugga chuggs from down under. They are named Absolution but there's other bands with the same name so they're Absolution (Aus), I guess. I like it but I found the first couple tracks a bit boring, they mix it up a bit more on 3 and above. Track 3 has a lot of death metal feel to it and the others they change stuff up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CsmdYE58A4 I've also been listening to Guardian from the UK, it's decent music, nothing innovative, but I like it. The youtube comments for this video are funny in a sad way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSvBWMzkNQc

Checking out new VoM now, * I actually think it's pretty rad. Mikasa is a banger with a catchy loving chorus. Helps to differentiate some run-of-the-mill progressive metal bands that just noodle around incessantly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkkglrqKuUs ShoogaSlim fucked around with this message at 16:51 on May 8, 2015 |

I recently found out that Counterparts is coming out with a new album, and some looking turned up their facebook page which suggests that something is happening on Thursday. I can't seem to find any specifics on whether that is a release date, or some other sort of news. So, I was wondering if any of you have found anything. For those unfamiliar with the band, here's a youtube link to their most recent album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-eFQcPfhpA Edit: band clarified pre-orders are going live, so ignore me. TheIllestVillain posted:it's actually both, the new guy does cleans and the old guy does the harsh vocals Wrong. The original vocalist does the vocals for the entirety of 2, maybe 3 songs. These songs also happen to be the best songs on the album. The second vocalist does the vocals for the rest of the songs. They are both "harsh" vocalists. The clean vocals, I'm not so sure on. I think it's mixed between different eras of the band.

"Accept" sounds like it could have been straight off of one of the first two albums. So good. That new Knocked Loose is pretty crazy. They're basically the US version of Desolated. They even borrowed that group-chant "OOH!"

new Veil of Maya seems to be getting poo poo on but I like it. Has some of their weirdest riffs so far. The synth is a bit overused but I like that they sound more like Erra because seriously Erra is the best y'all. Cleans aren't too overused.

I would see most any show just to see TAS. I've never seen BOO in a real venue, so it would be nice to see them with better sound. I also have played the new VOM an infinite number of times in the past week and a half so I'd be stoked to see them, too. That said, I have no desire to sit through Cattle Decap and After the Burial really.
