It's not a proper Hollywood "movie" but the Street Fighter 2 cartoon movie was actually pretty good. It featured every character from the game in some sort of way, though it focused heavily on Ryu, Ken, Guile, Chun Li and M. Bison.

Doom is one great scene with a while lot of dull nothing surrounding it. I will admit that I was unreasonably annoyed that they made the enemies not demons

You don't level up and unlock ultimates in bf conquest. You don't have 3 lanes. You don't have npc mooks. Its not exactly a MOBA but its definitely moba-like more so than poo poo like battlefield. Even though they combined the story of SH 1&2 into an amalgamation and made up other poo poo, it at least had the right look and tone. Most game movies are nothing like the games. I heard Assassin's Creed was pretty forgettable? They've got a Castlevania TV show coming up, that they're claiming is going to be the first proper game to film adaptation. We'll see... we'll see. veni veni veni posted:Yeah what were they? Aliens or something? Plus it looked nothing like Doom. They were zombies pretty much, suuuuuper generic horror movie mutant zombies. Silent Hill was about 3/4ths of a good Silent Hill movie and then descended into a total mess for the endgame.

Looking at the Doom movie now some of the monsters were surprisingly true to Doom 3. Too bad Doom isn't a about a whole squad of guys and it excessive amounts of the color blue.

Silent Hill opened with a little girl flailing and screaming SILENT HILL SILENT HILL and I knew I was in for something bad. Nice camera angles from the games tho.

Even though Silent Hill sort of looked the part I thought even at it's best it completely lacked the subtlety that made Silent Hill scary and cool. Even back then I didn't feel like the people that made it got Silent Hill. Even before it gets really loving bad. I'd actually say there isn't single good movie ever based on a game except SMB which is only good because it's completely insane.

The Silent Hill movie really did nail the look of the town and the monsters, I remember looking at production shots and salivating. Also the Pyramid Head redesign was great. Homecoming was smart to steal it. Shame about the screenplay though.

A moba is basically competitive tower defense but you have direct control over a single hero and indirect control over other stuff. It's one of those things like roguelites that a bunch of games are drawing from and adding elements of into games these days. A lot of people don't like them.

I think Silent Hill's main drawback is that it tries to tell a story that the games tell in 10-20 hours in 1.5. Usually the stupid bits are such a small part that it feels more forgivable but the movie had to be plot beat after plot beat and they also had no smooth way of getting the big plot stuff explained Still, at least it's not the sequel which is literally one of the worst movies I've ever seen

It's one of those things like roguelites that a bunch of games are drawing from and adding elements of into games these days. A lot of people don't like them. Its a competitive team RPG where you balance map control with leveling up (from scratch each round). You can join forces but you also want to control all the resources so you generally have to spread out. Games like DOTA and LOL are really clones of each other. Smite is a bit different in the combat, but still follows the formula to a T. For Honor is less like DOTA than Smite is, but its still very much like DOTA and more so than say, Battlefield or anything else with just generic team competitive control points. The only thing For Honor is really lacking from DOTA is an item shop. The combat in For Honor is nothing like a standard MOBA (which are built in RTS setting) but Smite is a 3rd person action game too, and its a very strict MOBA. For Honor's combat is more like a fighting game and deeper than Smite's by a lot, but the framework of the Dominion mode is pretty MOBA. And I expect that higher levels of competitive Dominion are going to very much have MOBA team tactics. But at low skill match play with randoms, you can just play control points and it works okay.

Silent Hill the movie has one of the subtlest, coolest things ever (that deserved to be in a better film) Rose's clothes start out almost white, and as they get bloodier and dirtier they actually change her outfit out to become darker and also redder until the end when she's all in red. Early Getting redder/darker Late

The problem with silent hill is that the climax of the film is an exposion dump. Silent Hill is a movie that gets worse every time I watch it. I've seen it probably 5 times and have no desire to ever watch it again. I'm sure I will though, somehow.

# ? Feb 14, 2017 02:57 |

Yeah the movie is mediocre-bordering-on-good up until that exposition dump, which vaults it straight into bad. Doesn't help that the exposition getting dumped on you is the same town-sacrifices-scapegoat-child-who-then-curses-town plot that so many horror movies have. It's this weird curse of the series that its central lore is pretty boring and the games are at their best when they ignore it. It would've been cool if the films became an anthology series that used the supernatural town as a launching point to tell other stories, like SH2.

i thought the silent hill movie was more or less fine but i also thought that the way the movie basically devolves into torture porn towards the end shows that they either didnt get the initial appeal or they were worried audience goers would need the torture porn to be satisfied, like they needed sean bean there for some reason. i wish that whoever had been put in charge of making a silent hill movie was someone who desperately wanted to make a modern version of jacobs ladder, as that seems ripe for the opportunity but they didnt so whatever. sidebar but my time budget just isnt what it used to be anymore and i want to buy nioh, nier automata, and torment and i know i will have at most the time to finish two of these. its gonna be for my birthday so i refuse to be practical, which games will be the best for my limited available time, goons
