My friend has 2 chihuahuas and they seem equally bonded with he and his partner. They bark when you knock at the door but once you're inside they're friendly and will sit on your lap. They're a bit wary around other dogs though

One of our old cats loved stuff like that, including being pet really, really hard. Like almost spanking; if you did it lightly she'd wander off to someone who'd give her what she wanted. My dad used to roll her up into a furball and she liked it, he was her favourite person that would trot over to greet him and tell him about her day. One of the most sweet natured cats we ever had. My cat is extremely tolerant and sweet natured but while he tolerates stuff he doesn't enjoy it. Like if I hold him like a baby he'll complain endlessly but not struggle. Now our old dog would have loved that nonsense. One of her favourite games was "Slide the dog" where my dad would launch her along the carpet, and then she'd get up and charge over to be slid again. I miss all of them.

Is this just something that dads do? We used to have a male ginger tabby when I was a teenager. Our dad would just absolutely manhandle him and we'd give him poo poo for that, but the truth is Rossini (the cat) unambiguously loved it and always came back for more.

Holding a cat like a baby is one of life's simple joys. I'd do that to an ex-girlfriend's cat and he'd purr away and sometimes fall asleep. Sometimes I'd take his tail and shake it in front of his face then set him down and he'd chase it for a bit.

She does love being brushed hard and will occasionally ask to be chased. In return, she does not steal food and is respectful of belongings. She'll knock a bottle cap or pen off a ledge, but nothing heavier.

A friend used to have a slightly chonky brown tabby that loved nothing more than to be balled up face-to-nutsack and then bowled down the hallway. He’d come out of the ball about mid-slide, get on his feet and start doing a burnout back towards you, getting traction just before he hit the bathroom door at the end of the hall, sprinting back, and sliding to a stop right in front of you, where he’d meow at you till you did it again. Conversely, my brown tabby is afraid of most things, and doesn’t even particularly care for being picked up.  Cats are a spectrum.
