deaders posted:After using flickr a bit over the past week I have discovered the Mannequin-esque formula for getting on the front page: Hmm, I don't think there's a formula to my photography in terms of 'getting on the front page.' (Of what?) But I do usually get interested in a style and then shoot the hell out of it until I'm satisfied, and then (usually) move on. But if some of my pictures are popular I don't think it's because they lack focus or interest, that's just a personal preference to you. Other people see interest, and other people see interest in completely different things. Think of airline photography / classic Dave Hill stuff / abstract film. There's an audience for everything, for better or worse. Edit: And no need to defend your statement I understand what you're saying. I think it sounds like I was having a go at you but really I had just noticed quite a few photos taken by other people in "Explore" that had nothing going for them other than the subject being an old bike. I was just being a smart-rear end using the term mannequin-esque but wasnt actually talking about your photos, which I am actually a fan of (including the bikes). Seems to be one of those subjects that people just like to favourite on flickr. That and technicolour landscapes.

In case people don't look at the Awesome Photographers thread I'll post this here: http://dementievskiy.livejournal.com/230885.html Picking three doesn't do the set justice, there's around 80ish photos taken in the Nepalese Himalayas, they are all stunning photos, well worth your time for a browse.
