I solved my problem after finding a solution on Reddit, btw, I had to find the "Chromecast built-in" system app in Shield settings, clear its data, and reboot :toot:

I'm looking for recommendations for an extension that cleans up Facebook. I only ever want to see posts from my friends/family and the pages that I actually follow, in reverse chronological order. I want to completely get rid of anything "sponsored", "suggested", "for you" etc. I realize that FB's algorithm still won't show me everything from my follows, but getting rid of the crap will be a big improvement.

Bonus would be a Firefox extension that does the same thing, for my inevitable switchover whenever Google gets around to breaking uBlock Origin.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.
I’ve used FB Purity for quite a while, though like most people I don’t really use Facebook any more.

I don’t think it works as well as it used to, and the guy is in an endless cat & mouse game with Facebook’s developers, but it’s worth trying at least?

How's it hanging, brah?
In case anyone else runs into this again, again, and tabs turn to poo poo and that dumb side panel appears:

quote:

right click your desktop Chrome icon (or make a new one that you can then pin to the taskbar) & on the Target line of the first tab, either copy & paste the following or just add the part not in quotes:

C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-features=CustomizeChromeSidePanel

Really need to just bite the bullet and switch to Firefox at this point

I'm going to try out FB Purity. For chronological order I have my bookmark pointing to https://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr

Man, that website is definitely a 00's vibe.

Gave it a try and initial results are good. No more poo poo in my feed that FB thinks I should like and follow. Thanks.

Good tip, thanks. However, I'm going to leave my bookmark vanilla because I like seeing birthday notifications, shortcuts to my groups on the left, and occasionally I like to look through "people you may know". Bookmarking sk=h_chr removes all of that and I couldn't figure out how to get back to it. Chrono-feed can still be easily accessed, I found, by clicking the "Feeds" button on the left.

They tapdance not, neither do they fart
Another Chrome update another gently caress up of the padding in the right click menu.
The old flags did not work from the last time this happened, even tried reenabling them, relaunching and the disabling them with another relaunch, which didnt change it.
Found this though if it bothers you as it did me.

https://www.reddit.com/r/chrome/comments/1czojpw/how_to_fix_the_new_broken_ui/

quote:

Right click again on Google Chrome. More options will be displayed, and you click on Properties.

A window opens with six tabs, you must go to the tab called “shortcut”.

Locate the line that says “target”

You will see this written: "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe"

You need to add a space after the quote and add this --disable-features=CustomizeChromeSidePanel

You apply and accept.

If you have Chrome pinned to the start menu, open Windows Explorer and navigate here:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

When you find the Chrome icon, repeat the six steps.

If you have Chrome on your desktop, you do the same, repeat the six steps.

No, seriously... what kurds?!
What in the gently caress is Chrome/Edge's moon logic in forcibly elevating http sessions to https in normal mode, but not in private mode?

Thanks Ants

Normal browsing mode you want things to be secure by default, a private tab might be where you log into some ancient web UI that only speaks HTTP.

I'm using Chrome on my Mac and I always use it fullscreen. My problem is that the Chrome tabs are at the top and half the time I try to go click on one, I overshoot a tiny bit which triggers the Mac menu bar to appear, covering the tabs.

Is there any way to move the tab bar down to below the address bar, which I have to click way less frequently? Any results I've found searching for this seem to be for mobile, where that sort of thing is possible. I'd even tolerate everything moving to the bottom of the screen if it sorted this.
