I was planning on going to Gateway, but I also recently quit my (good paying but unprofessional shitshow) job and am trying to find a new one to keep plans on track.

I keep wondering if Robby had won in '99 how big of a victory that would have been for the sport, and John Menard himself.

I mean the guy looked like he was a rising star in the mid-90's and like he'd be a possible championship contender in the PPG series. Finished 5th in points in '94, and '95 against a fairly good field with decent equipment in Derrick Walker's car.

For the rest of his CART career (full time) it felt like he got saddled with an ill performing Toyota engine and the last Eagle.

Robby was a good driver but he was too wild and also too much of a loudmouth. I think it was Elkhart Lake '96 where he essentially said Ford's engine was poo poo after blowing yet again on live TV.

Sounds like just what people were clamoring for back then.

i'm just curious how he'd have done in a Reynard-Honda- Firestone package. Maybe Tracy would have been his contemporary in that regard.

Dude's an asskicker and really needs to come over here. He flashed an INSANE amount of skill tackling IMS, and WILL get his face on the Borg Warner if he comes back full time.

Yeah :smith: He was enjoying himself, and he definitely endeared himself to a lot of people the two weeks they saw him.

Rumor I heard was Subaru or McLaren.

Lambo is an odd fit though. I mean I've seen quite a few Diablos in NEOhio for some loving reason, but I don't think they're exactly a "brand" in the US that really advertises itself.

I'd figure it would have been more like Ford or Toyota.

Ford has some inbred grandson of Henry Ford mucking up the works.

He loves Bruton Smith, SMI, and NASCAR. He hates IndyCar and Formula 1. Went on some unhinged rant about it once. (Not like his nazi sympathizer grandfather was at the first "500" taking pictures and his family's company is pasted all over cars at the IMS museum. no sir.).

I say this as someone who does like Ford quite a bit. It sucks.
