Read After Burning posted:That has to be staged...right? Like, he clearly actually hits him! I just mean it was an agreed-upon stunt...? Why does he laugh (in other footage I saw), then change his mind and get angry? The laughs I saw looked like they were just kind of the remainder of the joke before which was much more complimentary. Another thing is that when the camera cuts to show Will laughing, you can see Jada to the side looking decidedly not happy.

I've kind of lost track of which famous dudes are which shitbags, is Chris Rock the guy who was a domestically abusive husband to Beyoncé or the guy who assaulted Rihanna multiple times? Or do I know his name for some third reason?

Or do I know his name for some third reason? Chris Brown was the shithead who assaulted Rihanna. I don’t think anyone abused Beyoncé. She’s been married to Jay-Z for a while now. Chris Rock is a comedian who hasn’t physically abused anyone that I know of.

Chris Rock's only claim to infamy that I can think is his "There's black people and there's n------s" routine in the '90s which accidentally let racist white people think they could freely drop the n-bomb.

To be fair to Rock, in recent years he said he regretted doing that routine due to white people using it to attack black people, and he has taken it out of his standup programme His most recent foray was headlining a spinoff of the Saw series, it isn't clear if that was successful though as it released during covid

Chris Rock's had a bunch of claims to fame because for a while in the 90s and early 2000s he was a legitimately great comedian regularly putting awesome poo poo out there, even if some of it has aged poorly or since needed to come out of his act. More recently — among other things — he was in Fargo, where he did a great job, and a Saw reboot sort of thing that sputtered and died. His turn into acting hasn't been particularly stellar. His current comedy is ... okay? There are flashes of his 90s-era self sprinkled throughout, but for the most part it's nothing amazing. Edit: Like I don't know if this has any descriptive value but when I saw "Chris Rock is hosting the Oscars" I thought, "Yes, that makes absolute perfect sense."

Whatever else you do, stay away from Top Five. Awful, awful movie. Tambourine was his last big special and much like Chappelle, he doesn't seem to really have it anymore, but for different reasons. Comedy is dead

Rock made some jokes about Jada at the 2016 Oscar's. She boycotted the Oscars that year, and Rock (who I believe also hosted that year) made a joke about how she's boycotting something that no one invited her to. So there may have been some tension between Rock and the Smiths for a few years, I dunno. ...Or Jason is a time traveler.
