Oh I did, along with the evidence of the Reagan Administration's attempts to cover it up, and the illegality of the whole thing - and here was his response: quote:Your problem, is that you keep looking at the world as it exists now, and not as it was then. And back then, our aid to the Contras led to the collapse of the Nicaraguan Communist government so it was definitely a good thing to have done. We could have done a lot more had not the Democrats worked so hard to stop it because they wanted to discredit President Reagan more than they valued National Security. It's hard to double-down on child murder and mass rape, but I guess the ends justify the means. Hey it was the crazy 80s, anything went. Also, gently caress those pesky Democrats and their drat consciences. We could have had sooo much more nun rape.

How in the flying gently caress did Nicaraguan Communists affect Americans personally at home, let alone how raping nuns and killing Americans helped this problem.

Regardless, Nicaragua's siding with the USSR probably had something to do with the US's military interventions and America's support of their dictatorships at the behest of corporate interests for a good 70 years. I think this is one of those things that doesn't actually require an idiot teacher to give people bad ideas. The mental equation went something like this. "What do I know about Japan? [Technology and WW2]" + "I am a SUPER PATRIOT" = "Payback for WW2 BiTcHeZZZZ!!"

Dropping a couple of nukes on heavily populated areas wasn't enough "payback"?

"America must be forgiven for its transgressions less then 30 years ago because it was a different time and there are acceptable levels of nun rape and mass murder" VS "Lets hold a grudge against Japan for 60 plus years despite the fact we dropped 2 nukes on them...they have to pay for their actions 60 plus years ago unlike us because..."

The SUPER PATRIOT part comes as an immediate afterthought to clear up any accidental thinking on the matter.

About halfway down that list, someone said "Did japan help when katrina happened? Hell no, gently caress them" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_response_to_Hurricane_Katrina Needless to say, Japan sent plenty of help for Katrina. However, so did an impressive fuckload of countries. It really should put a total lid on any nationalist "America first!" horseshit. I really liked how one of them thought it was the USA that was "bombed the poo poo out of" at Pearl Harbour. I mean, I'm sure it wasn't pretty down there, but speaking relative to the levels of bombing that happened in that war, it didn't exactly approach "the poo poo" levels.

The world is as it's always been, therefore apocalypse. You might want to point out that earthquakes, famines, and tsunamis used to kill a lot more people than they do nowadays, mostly due to people having little in the ways of medicine or decent infrastructure.

This bugs me because there's finally studies starting up about the birth defects in Fallujah, but a major question mark is whether it's because of long term exposure to radiation or toxin (or more likely a mix). At least the population of Fallujah is mostly in one place, the US soldiers are all over a continent now with no real way of noticing if they as a population are experiencing increased birth defects in their children. I mean, they could have and nobody would notice because the effect would be dispersed all over a continent.

Seriously though I'm really sorry that so many idiots assume all soldiers are happy to do their duty without question and want support as long as it's supporting them in that duty, and may not have their own opinions that run contrary to the people in charge.
