On another note, here's a fun customization mod that ought to thrill fans of the OG 90's XCOMs.

I"ve said it before and I'll say it again: Cheat. Stuff from the DLC is neat, but it's not worth the aggravation that is the alien rulers.There's a kill command in the console, but I kinda always preferred toggling UnlimitedActionPoints and venting some frustration by shotgunning it repeatedly in the face.

Knowing XCOM, it was incredibly intentional.

Wait, alien rulers are DLC? I'm pretty sure I'm running vanilla.

Edit: oh, huh, I guess I have the alien hunters DLC, too.

FYI everyone: the Dale Gribble voice pack mod in the Steam workshop is truly a work of art.

Yes it does, and I've absolutely done this before.

I Got Kids. I need this.
And if you're big into RPGO, Musashi just released a new update with some new Second Wave options, in this case the ones that make all of your guys a random combination of primary and secondary weapon specialisations instead of the whole list.

So that's nice, you now have essentially all characters being their own class.

EDIT: you may want to give it some time to wring out a few bugs and kinks however.

Oh I see! This must be the Bad Opinion Zone!
Seems like a smaller game to experiment with changes to the tactical gameplay. The focus of the changes seems to be to suppress the alpha-strike centric gameplay from XCOM 2, so it'll be interesting to see how effective that is.

Also I'm super impressed if that's what the world looks like 5 years after XCOM 2.

Huh, looks neat. We got a couple human agents, a pectoid, a muton and a viper in the screenshots. The only thing missing is a robot.

Im totally down.

I am all in for X-COPs. The breach mechanics seems like a natural evolution of setting up ambushes from XCOM2. The urban setting and I assume more streamlined missions would probably be their way to design out the focus on pod activation or avoidance in favour of more defined encounters.

And theres the robots, though I am a little disappointed they're just stand ins for downed agent

I'm also looking a bit at the combat barks 'I made the arrest!' as the enemy rag dolls from being shot in the head multiple times.

100% down for more XCOM but I don't love that they're relegating the end of the war to a spin-off, what's up with that? It's the same thing Wolfenstein did with Young Blood, here's this massive cliffhanger and whoopsie the next game just skips over a bunch of important stuff.

I am guessing XCOM 3 will be years after this with the opening cutscene being "We won and integrated with the aliens but there's a terror from the deep now" as a lobster shoots a muton

will be very surprised if there's no stinger for XCOM3 at the end of this one, esp given the end of WOTC

Speaking of, I wonder how the Reapers fit into the integrated society, given the whole "eating mutons" thing. I'd peg them as the human insurgents, but who knows.

Reality is an illusion.
The universe is a hologram.
Buy gold.
A couple important points I noticed from the Steam page 6-minute video (edit: same as the Gameplay Overview video linked above):
- looks like we're gonna have a fixed squad this time, with no recruitment;
- all agents are different, so no snek squad;
- no agent deaths allowed, bleeding is guaranteed and anyone in the squad bleeding out is instant gameover.

Chimera Squad breach mode is a preview of XCOM 3, which is a game consisting of nothing but a room by room search of every 1x1 closet of a cruise ship for that last loving lobsterman, who naturally greets the officer who opens the door with a heavy sonic pulsar shot to the face.

I can run X-com 2 on my microsoft surface pro 4 just fine this game looks like it's using the same engine? Could anyone that understands computer specs better than me let me know if this will run? I want to buy it so bad.

Bleedout causes wounds too that need healing with what looks like hefty debuffs until you toss them into the training room to recover as well

My hype for this is intense. $10 only and launching 10 days from now? Crazy!

No soldier renaming and such, and obviously a bit more limited in scope, but it looks awesome. I'm also really hoping they're using this to field-test new ideas for X-COM 3
