I just saw that the 7 year license is beyond the next 5, so they actually have the archive licensed for 12 years. Will this delay the launch of Howard 360???

He's definitely never going back to an actual studio. He said working from home made the decision easier for him.

He will be back in studio. He has mentioned it many times this year that while he doesn't miss the commute, he does miss face to face. That said, I bet this deal opens him to doing shows from home post COVID, like a week in studio interviewing people and a week from home just playing clips and bits.

It's a poor testament to the quality of the show that I am actually disappointed Howard didn't retire.

I still listen and enjoy it most of the time, but yeah I really wanted him to up for a year or two and just do a goodbye tour. Sirius definitely needs to get a second show on H100 to start building up a replacement.

I don't want to get too morbid, but I also thought given Robin's health issues that maybe now would be a good time for a break. I have no idea what Howard would do if Robin died before the contract expired...

Oof! God forbid. I don't think I could imagine the show without Robin.

He said after she beat cancer that he would have ended the show if she died. I would expect he still feels that way and would either be released of his contract or switch to some other role.

Do you guys ever have weird memories of what you were doing when you were listening to something on the show? I have one when I was listening to Artie and Gilbert being incredibly offensive and it was funny because they were out of control and Howard was pretty uncomfortable with it. It was probably 15 years ago but I remember driving in my car, summer day, sun shining, and I was driving in Montreal towards the casino with the water on the side and a bridge ahead of me. Man, I wish it wasn't a memory about something insanely racist.

When Bigfoot told the story about getting paid to finger his mailman, I was pressure washing my old deck to prep for paint/seal. I also love listening to Stern while traveling internationally because it helps a lot with home sickness. It also results in plenty of weird looks when you snicker on public transit. I listened to the Trevor Noah interview last year while very unsober on good beer in Brussels. I was listening to the John the Stutterer "Win John's Job" recording while stuck on the DLR line in London due to an early snow storm. I listened to that same Artie-Gilbert thing during morning rush hour on the Yamanote line in Tokyo...

I did the classic “had to pull over and stop on the side of the road on the way to work because I was dying of laughter” when KC was chasing a terrified and nearly nude High Pitch Erik around the studio with a dead fish like a middle school bully.

I just love Richard's calls because he can work clean. Also "mouth full of salad" is now a catch phrase with me and my wife. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTJhnuQMbL8 In the entire history of calls on this show, this might be the most original in concept. And sometimes I think he needs to run for office and be the best filibusterer we've ever seen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaSn-zay-rY

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I also remember being in my friend's van when I heard that Howard was leaving Montreal radio. I was so pissed. Google tells me that was 1998 and I was 17.

A lot of listening happened while I was at work, reviewing porn, so... y'know... But OTHERWISE, I have a lot of memories listening to clips while driving on the 20 or 40 West, out of Montreal, into the west island at the end of each day. Clips I had downloaded onto my phone to save data. I also used to listen to clips while I'd be doing some menial digging in Minecraft, or playing through Doom trying out a shitload of mods. The show really does go well with mindless videogames.

I remember working the front desk during a temp security job and listening to the first show after they got the rights to the tapes back. It was the first time I heard the Booey love tape & Gilbert asking that guy to repeat the joke over and over again. I had to keep hiding my headphones from the staff members who kept bugging me every five minutes to raise/lower the heating on their floor (it just occurred to me that I was the living petcock) "In sex, she got an F"

I heard the Amy Heckerling Nazi story in real time and actually drove the speed limit so I could stay in the car longer. God, before Stern back then my options were the horrible, local morning zoo or Bob and Tom.
