Something about the Gloria story line confuses me. Tony meets Gloria in Melfi's office where she mentions she works for Globe Motors In the bedroom, Tony is watching TV and Mercedes commercial comes on. He says that's thinking of getting one and Carm says, "Go ahead. It's a cute little car." Tony goes to see Gloria for a "test drive" Carm takes her station wagon in to Globe Motors for service and Gloria gives her a ride home. Is Globe the only Mercedes repair shop in norther Jersey? Does Carm just choose random dealerships to handle her car repairs? It seems that Tony would have known that Globe is where his wife's car is serviced and would have been been more careful. Now in season 1, Tony takes Carm the same restaurant that he and Irina go to, but he wasn't loving anyone there.

It's a contrivance for TV drama but it also seems like exactly the kind of thing Tony would be sloppy and lazy about. He probably doesn't care enough to know where Carm takes her car anyway.

While I don't think Tony put any thought into it because he's Tony, Benz dealerships are spread out on purpose, Carmella probably bought it at the closest location to their house, and considering Tony & Gloria met at therapy, they probably live close-ish to each other so it'd make sense that he'd be loving a Benz saleswoman at the Benz dealership his wife goes to.

So am I missing something? Why does Johnny Sac move to Jersey and stick his beak in? He's sticking up for Ralph almost right away and by the end of season 3 he's manipulating Paulie. Even if the 98lbs mole joke never happened I still feel like he had other motives.

I imagine it was a combination of Johnny liking the area and opening up the possibility to throw his weight around on the Soprano crew if the opportunity ever presented itself. The Jersey guys setting up in New York turf would not be accepted but this was. I'm sure some kind of a power play was involved.

Bonzo posted:So am I missing something? Why does Johnny Sac move to Jersey and stick his beak in? He had the exact same motive that any of those guys had - to gently caress over everyone else in the name of putting a buck in their pocket. For as much of a "brotherhood" as they claimed to be, the system is built upon and expects everyone to skim off as much as possible off of everyone else.

Bonzo posted:So am I missing something? Why does Johnny Sac move to Jersey and stick his beak in? Johnny Sack is responsible for New York's share in the gigantic Esplanade construction project, which is why Ralphie is so valuable to him. Paulie's insignificant to him financially but can key him in to anything threatening his interests that Tony might hide. There's a lot of references in season 3 but I think by the end of 4 it's established that Johnny more or less depends on the income he gets from NY-NJ construction, given his reaction to Carmine shutting it down. One of my favourite little touches in the show regards that is when Ralphie asks about defecting to New York Johnny snorts derisively and says Carmine doesn't even know who he is, but after the mole joke we see Carmine concerned about keeping Ralphie in place. In the meantime Johnny's assured Paulie that Carmine asks after him and would support him coming over, but when Paulie finally crashes a wedding to request it... Carmine doesn't even know who he is.

Eifert Posting posted:Did they ever drop a hint how the psychic knew about the poison ivy? Are we supposed to believe he's legit? I'm sure I've watched the show all the way through at least 7 or 8 times and I never saw anything that suggested the psychic experience was anything other than legit. It's a pretty funny little deviation into the supernatural from a show that is so appealing because it's all so realistic.

The show would often portray some sort of break in reality with Paulie, I always assumed because of how paranoid and superstitious he is. There's also the time he saw the Virgin Mary on stage at the Bing. "gently caress strippers, we could have had a shrine!"

The psychic scene was completely straightforward. Fuckin queers!
