I saw Fred play with King Norris in a bar in West Caldwell, NJ. He wasn't a bad guitar player. He was actually charming and funny onstage. When he was offstage he was really quiet, barely said more than two or three words at a time.

So this morning I woke up about an hour or so before my alarm was set to go off. After checking the time on the clock, I propped my head up by putting my arm behind it and promptly fell back to sleep Cut to my alarm going off and me waking up to find I had no feeling at all in my arm above the elbow. Not just asleep, but completely numb. Now I've slept on my arms before, but I've never had it go as bad as it did this time. Usually I can at least twitch a finger or so and get that weird, electrical sensation, but this time there was nothing . I had to use my other arm to pull it across my chest and it felt just like a corpse was touching me for 20 seconds before the feeling started to come back. A great way to start a a day. Anyway, the point of this fascinating story is that I now have an idea of what it must be like for Jeff the Drunk to carry that dead arm of his around in that sling everyday. Having the choice, I would have gotten that thing sliced off and be done with it. There's no way I could stand to live with that permanently.

Then, again, 1 thousand drunken, screaming frat boys isn't that discerning of an audience. What got the biggest laughs were the racist jokes.

I met Gary at his hilariously underattended St. Pete book signing. Sadly, they cancelled the Killers of Comedy tour that was rolling through Florida a couple years back so I never got to verify what I've heard about how Beet smells.

Oh crap, I forgot -- I actually did meet Artie and High Pitch Eric at the same time. I can't believe I forgot about that! Artie was doing a DVD signing at a big local store and I got to hang out with Artie for a bit. This was when he was around 300 pounds; he was wearing a dress shirt & sweatpants, poor guy. Artie was surprisingly funny and friendly, but he had this look like he was hungover and just wanted to go to bed. (which was probably true.) High Pitch turned up and I talked to him for a bit; he was as fat as Artie but a lot taller than I expected. When he talked those spit strings kept forming between his upper & lower teeth. It was pretty horrendous. I saw Richard from afar at Union Pool Hall in Brooklyn 3 years ago, I think that's the bar where he met his fiancee. He was surrounded by fans and friends so I didn't say anything to him.

My two favorite Stern people encounters were Beet grabbing a Heineken, ripping it open with his gross hand, offering it to my friend, he passed, then I grabbed it and cheers'd. Also buying for and drinking a beer with Richard Christy was great. That guy is the real deal.

Both sides in an argument can be wrong you know. Artie had no problem calling his friends and co-workers hacks when he thought no one would pick up on it, but when they complained he got angrier and more condescending than anyone.

Yeah, it was always disappointing when Artie would pull that, he is normally good at giving it right back, I guess all the drugs made him tired and less witty. When they would hit an exposed nerve, he would explode! But it makes sense, he isn't exactly the voice of reason and wise life choices.

Look, as a standup Artie was about on Levy's level as it was. HOWever, he was really good on the show and as much as I stand by that, his standup really wasn't that great at all.
