Superman: The Black Ring, Justice League 3000/3001 and Batman '66 are all pro-clicks in that sale. The Outsiders is also a good value buy, being like 16 issues for the price.

The end of the Grodd issue is actually one of my favourite shifts in comics. Just going from this lurid, goofy, exploitation-cinema-esque story of Grodd trying to eat Luthor's brain into the appearance of Death of the Endless is beautifully done.

I was gonna recommend Black Ring, but you'd need to buy the other half of the run, and in singles at that.

It also can be used with their Halloween sale (also going on now).

Dark Horse's app ripped me off in the past by charging full price for items listed as on sale. Sending a help ticket didnt result in a refund, or if it did it's been so long (past two weeks) that I stopped checking.

I can vouch for the Batman/TNMT and Shadow crossovers (though Shadow isn't all there) and most of the Loony Tunes ones, especially Tom King's Elmer Fudd.

DC Comics/Dark Horse Comics: Justice League has the Justice League/Hellboy/Starman team up which is pretty awesome

If I have all the Ellis, Fraction, Iron Monger saga, Doom Quest, Armor Wars Iron Man issues is there anything worth getting?

Huh. With multi-publisher 50% off sales, there are at least a few once-exciting series that have had finales since I last read them that I could catch up on, but I'm not sure if they'll be worth it, since acclaim seems to have died off. Particularly, Shutter and Letter 44 (though not everything from Letter 44 is on sale)--anyone have opinions on those?

I also once really enjoyed Lumberjanes, but it seems to have gotten much less interesting--any opinions there? Or on Rat Queens vol. 2?

Rat Queens, Lumberjanes, and Letter 44 have all fallen off for me, though the Lumberjanes / Gotham Academy crossover was a hoot. For that matter, Justice League / Power Rangers is fun too. Good job, corporate synergy!

I really liked House Of Penance. I'll recommend that.
How's American Gods? Is it fine to read without experiencing the novel or TV show? Is it an adaptation, or it's own thing in the universe?

The Vertigo anthology, Flinch, at the bottom of the sale is pretty good, and his art in one of the stories is quite neat and unique for him. Seemed like a new style he tried and abandoned.

I’ve not read or watched any other version of American Gods but I like the comics, it’s quite slow paced with very little action though so might not be for everyone. The shorts that are in the back of some issues which don’t seem like they’re connected to the main story other than building off the “mythological entities live among us” theme are really nice too.

What are the Grindhouse books in that sale like? They sound like fun b-movie stuff.

I was reading American Gods, but dropped it after a few issues. It's a pretty straight adaptation of the book.

Roth
Jul 9, 2016

I'm still reading it, but it's mostly because I haven't read the book so I want to see where it goes.

The art's nice, but I do feel like quite a bit of the narration is just copy/pasted from the book, and it can be a bit tedious to read that.

Marvel want to be special snowflakes. Their layout is a little different. They presumably don't want to catch DC cooties. I feel like it's the digital version of having a separate magazine for their section of Previews.
