AEW is polarised by the audience, weekly HM's get MOTY nominees when they won't be remmebered or watched again and just regular bad matches get WMOTY nominees. In the same week both Lucha Bros/Jurassic Express and Hayter/Red Velvet were HMOTY's. The gap between those two matches can be measured in parsecs, just as the gap between Jurassic/Lucha and WALTER/Ilja is that vast. Then again this is all meaningless so who knows. To be not meaningless would need to add more restrictions than "the best match on a show that week doesn't make it an of the year nominee by default nor does the worst match on the show make it worst of all time material" but too hard to enforce. I'd sooner watch Red Velvet v Hayter again than the New Japan Wrestlekingdom Rumble this year.

I would rather people be too loose with MOTY nominations and increase the chance that people hear about a fun match they may not have taken a chance on otherwise than that they be too strict with it for the sake of preserving the sanctity of the wrestlehut match of the year list.

Still a very good match between two great talents Suwama vs Shotaro Ashino - Even past his prime Suwama can still pull off a great performance, though like Ashino's semis match I had very little doubt who was winning this

STARDOM 5★STAR GP August 29th HM Mayu Iwatani vs Lady C - A fun twist on the underdog story, as the Goliath here is half a foot shorter than David. Mayu kicks hard and has a vicious moonsault, Lady C weathers the storm and hits a few sweet strikes of her own Maika vs Takumi Iroha - Iroha threw some fuckin sweet kicks, Maika absorbed them like a boss Natsupoi (c) vs Starlight Kid - High Speed Title - Some parts that took me out of the match, but on the whole it was very enjoyable
