Hi guys (sorry Ehud)

JFC, my boss pulled me into a meeting with me today to discuss my demeanour because i "Didnt say hi to him when i came in this morning"

He then went on to tell me my opinion on a piece of software was wrong because "Hes been in the business for 15 years" but didnt explain why my point was wrong, Turned out i was right, shock horror. Then has the gall to say that im bringing a negative attitude to the team.

Folk in this thread need to see Godfather part II if only for the fact that Fredo Corleone references have become an essential form of communication in the Trump era. Plus the Godfather is one of the few things in this world that lives up to the hype.

Princess Bride is an OK movie. Friends of mine back in HS loving loved it but I was just "it's fine I guess?", probably because I didn't see it as a little kid.

Where does Andre the Giant's performance rank among the other wrestlers that have been in movies

Without thinking about it too much the best wrestling actors (movie-wise) are probably The Rock > Rowdy Roddy Piper > Andre the Giant.

But Andre is probably the most memorable for people of a certain age.

I should have added him for completeness' sake but did Hogan ever play anything other than basically a wrestler in a movie? I mean he was in Rocky 3 too which was actually a real movie but he was still just a professional wrestler.

Speaking of...what's the football players turned actors list? The Rock if he counts is probably high on that list too.

I think I might put Old Spice guy #1, even though I've never seen him in anything other than commercials and internet videos that were also commercials.

Does Mr. Nanny count? He was an ex-wrestler who became a bodyguard/nanny. He was pretty poo poo bodyguard though since the villain having a metal plate in his head posed some real problems for the Hulkster vis-a-vis protecting children.

Eh, ive been "promised" certain things in January relating to job progression so if that doesnt hit then ill start looking elsewhere, the company is really good to work for which is a bummer but hes just too much. Like its gotten to the point where my colleague and I are like 300% more productive when hes not around.

I assume you've been talking to HR at this point? I straight went to HR and pointed out how I wasn't being actively developed and how my boss was costing the company money after trying to talk through it with him.

Thats my next step if this doesnt happen in January. Theres a lot of other reasons why certain things havnt happened in terms of progression but it doesnt help when for the first 6 months i was told "Oh yeah i speaking to people and getting this started" then in June i get told "Oh, you were supposed to be the one driving this so no, nothings been done". I then went and had a chat with all the people he told me he spoke to and shock loving horror. No one knew what i was on about.

It's in the five-hole!
I went out to the garage this morning and found some mice have been raiding the pantry shelves we have out there. Getting rid of the food that’s luring them in there is easy enough, but eliminating the little bastards themselves is more of a question. Part of me says do the gentle approach of sealing up all entry-points and getting some no-kill traps, part of me says get a ferocious semi-feral murder cat from the shelter and lock it in there for a few days and see what happens.

Whatever you do, dont use poison traps. The people in the flat below us used them and it ended up with:

A) Us watching a mouse take its last breath struggling to drink water on our kitchen floor
B) A mouse dying on a heating pipe under the floor so everytime we turned the heating on we got a full blast of decaying burnt mouse

Don't gently caress around with mice, yeah. I get the appeal of no kill traps but they're for animals who don't exponentially breed unless you want to have the problem forever.

Yeah, I wasn’t big on those because I figured I’ll just wind up with a bunch of little corpses hidden in the walls, and then the flies come, and it just won’t end well.

Unlimited PTO has the downside of no accrual. I helped them make some deadlines for this site launch and am leaving them in a good place, but I could see either not wanting to let me take PTO or wanting to save money for that week and just severing. Idk, I'll find out tomorrow.

It's tough, but a friend is a VP here and I came on to work for her old acquired company in the larger org. I don't work directly for her anymore and if she wasn't here, I'd take my leave and just quit when I came back, but have to do the right thing here because these kind of relationships matter.
