Took these with my new Droid Bionic. Loving having a phone with a decent camera now. My old Blackberry just wasn't cutting it. Now I just wish I hadn't tried to do this hike with my big-rig because I never even took it out of its backpack since I had the phone. Guess I'll just go back for "actual" photos when it's a little more dramatic up there. WisdomFull by Wes_Smith, on Flickr

I bought an iPad and iPhone in the same week, first time I've had half-decent mobile photo capability iPad3 camera, run through the Snapseed app to see if IOS photo processing is all just gimmick or if you can produce worthwhile results from it (the jury is out)... Seeing what the continuous 'shutter' speed on the iPhone 4S was like while trying to keep a fast-moving object framed through mostly guesswork, managed this and a few others - wish I'd managed to get him all in, but you get the general idea. Stood on the brakes on the way home into a roadside layby to jump out and snap a few like this with the iPhone, the quality of the light up on the Northumberland moors at sunset was phenominal; this is lovely, but I wish I'd had my dslr for this moment. Still, better then nothing or still having my old E65 cameraphone. {Not sure if that was a single exposure with Camera+ or a dual HDR with Pro HDR) <edit> A couple more iPhone sunsets NoneMoreNegative fucked around with this message at 01:18 on Apr 4, 2012 |

NoneMoreNegative posted:Heh, I was looking at the feature list for the Magic Lantern firmware yesterday and had to look this up as well... Thought 'I'm sure there's a really cool application of that technidue somewhere' et voila, Dorkroom delivers. I did the exact same thing yesterday and installed Magic Lantern on my T2i as per Woot Fatigue's recent suggestion. ML was fairly primitive when I last put eyeballs on it but it's pretty fancy now. From what I can tell there are ~4 iPhone apps that do this. I've only played with two, Slit-Scan and ScanCamera. ScanCamera is the one I used- fixed lamp, band width 1, image size triple, HD mode set to on. I know that all sounds like garbage but it makes sense after playing with the app. There are some tutorials on Studio 307's website: http://www.studio-307.com/ScanCamera/Tutorial_2.html to help. Slit-Scan wants 2 bucks to unlock features (doesn't seem worth it) and ScanCamera is free. Slit-Scan is a little easier to visualize what is going on and has variable frame rate but ScanCamera has all the goodies for free. I had some good results last night using it in a car and watching Netflix with: moving lamp, band width 4, image size simple. Hand holding it in the car was jittery and looks like bad VHS artifacting (I adore VHS aesthetics) and is somewhat ominous and strange. For recording off the TV I used the new iPad and repurposed a pair of small hand clamps from Home Depot that I normally use to clamp glass together for contact printing. Clamped to the screen, they make a decent tripod/holder so the iPad sits on the coffee table pointing at the screen. Since you're dealing with unpredictable camera movements and cuts you get this crazy timeline band of scenes. People moving from right to left get skinny, the camera fixed on a person who turns their head warps them, etc. If a movie has potentially interesting subject matter (clowns, old people, slasher films, et al) I will sometimes watch it with a camera pointed at the screen and the leave the shutter open from 1 to 5 seconds. That compresses the entire time into a single image where this makes more of a timeline, i think it's really interesting. I'll post some up later.

^^ I'll have a whirl later on, thanks for the app suggestions. iPhone 4S, enhanced in Snapseed Ran out of cubed ice, so mage a big tub of ice and then smashed it against the wall outside in a plastic bag - the ice has picked up some interesting shockwaves in it from the smashing and then being put back in the freezer NoneMoreNegative fucked around with this message at 17:22 on Apr 6, 2012 |

I'm wondering what would happen if I filled one of my brownie trays with ice, tuned it up some with a hammer and refroze it over and over with otter pop juice poured into the cracks.
