the right's obsession with constantly biting iran's hand would be funny if it weren't so counterproductive. they were the first to offer support for the then-new War on Terror until we did that whole "axis of evil" thing, now there's this

Well, they wanted to weaken the Islamic regime's grip on the country. However, I don't think they are going to like what comes after...

Iran is basically legitimately doing a "fight them (american/saudi proxies) there so we don't have to fight them here" thing, so uh, yeah if they had less reason to be concerned about american/saudi proxies they probably would be better behaved.

oh i would never go that far. I am not some tankie for iran or that oval office assad. i just meant, if i had to pick the theocratic fuckhole that "could" at some point maybe reform into better thing. id pick Iran. the government are still evil fucks, i just dont see them staying theocratic forever, unlike KSA. but with various new developments, i doubt it will happen.

i have said in the past assad and his entire extended family should be killed ( , hell i got justly probated for going into overtly graphic detail, once i think.) and then replaced but thats probably not gonna happen because the Iranian government and their various puppets(not to mention russia) have spent a gently caress ton of lives and treasure to keep that oval office and his family alive. still loving sucks though.

It is, but as far as Iran is probably concerned, it's better that it happens in Syria than that it happens in Iran.

No I'm afraid you're the loving dipshit in this conversation, Iran is not the benevolent actor in Iraq or Syria in fact they've actively helped destroy the only real shot Syrian people had at democracy and actively aided a mass murdering fascist animal put down and gas his defenseless population when they asked for freedom, gently caress off with your nonsense, they are actively seeking to impose their power and their clients on other people's countries even if it means gassing children you loving idiot.

And if you're some kind of idiot tankie, I'll have you know that Iran oversaw the death and torture of an entire generation of Syrian leftists, socialists and anarchists, all of them fuckig died in a Syrian dungeon thanks to Iran, gently caress off.

Nobody said anything about Iran being a benevolent actor. The point is that fits my needs thinks Iran's foreign policy occurs in a vacuum devoid of any historical context, and not that they're reacting to a sectarian conflict created by the United States.

They're not reacting to a sectarian conflict, they're fermenting and arming and supporting it because it's their way of taking control of other countries, the United States simply opened the door for them wide open and handed them those golden opportunities on a silver platter. All of the psycho Iraqi and Syrian death squads are paid for by Iran.
