The only two things redeeming my drivers education experience was the Opel GT and Corvette racing stock car driver from West Virginia for the in car time and Buckle Man. The Buckle Man video is probably in every Ohio drivers ed classroom but rarely shown, Buckle Man and his partner (who can apparently only speak while rapping) thwart "The Heckler" and his attempts to keep people from using their safety belts.

Three years later and I finally found it online (it starts right after the advertisement)

Spoiler alert: Blood Ravens are actually Hiigarans who got sucked into the warp, were sent back in time to fight in WWII against the Panzer Elite, then stole a nazi time machine to go into the future and save mankind from an army of Lobster-Elephants and other impossible creatures.

C'Etait un Rendez-vous

from the link:

quote:

On an August morning in 1976, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris.

No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

No dialogue, just the squeal of tyres and the roar of the engine. Breathtakingly insane

Just the part about the camera being mounted on a Ferrari was wrong. It was actually mounted on a Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9, and the sound was dubbed in afterwards. But that should have been obvious anyways.

That's actually a very go representation of spec miata. I've been to quite a few races with a friend who runs the series. I told him it would be cheaper and cooler if i ran his race car over with my 4wd truck, he agreed.

The real awesome is that each segment refers to a circuit or circuits they competed on, eg typical tree lined is the 50's, the leaping 60's car is the 'Ring, the 70's are like Paul Ricard and the old Monza (iteresting they skipped the 80's, the cars were turds) then 90's with the newer circuits and of course then referring to Monte Carlo that's been since the beginning and links the whole thing together.

It always shocks me to see how small those old F1 cars really are (even the new ones are fairly tiny). It's mostly engine and tires.

I drive a Ram with a Hemi and they do indeed sound like that. There are a few other Mopar people around here but we like to lay low because lol Chrysler and whatnot.

The current gen Hemi is a wonderful engine and pretty much the lineup that has them (minus SUVs) are nice cars. In regular R/T trim the Challenger and Charger are plenty fun, but neither of them are race cars. They are for burbling through town and doing donuts with. The SRT8 trim also aren't race cars, but they do burble louder and create more smoke when doing donuts.

That said there is a growing aftermarket out there and you can do some crazy poo poo to both platforms.

They're incredible in every way. Handle nicely (for a giant SUV), absurdly quick in a straight line, look great, sound tits.

However, the whole HEMI thing bugs me. It's just a big marketing ploy that has nothing to do with the old Hemi motors.

These are insane. That road looks to be just a couple of feet wider than the car itself. It looks like someone driving them normally, but speeded up.

I think it was still a smart move for their brand. So now rich people have the option of lording Audi's greenness over BMW and Mercedes. I doubt it will get more people to buy, but at least there's that extra touch of brand differentiation. I assume BMW and Mercedes will cook some marketing up involving the various technologies they are already using.

I thought the anteater was cool, too.
