I am a specialist gsm, as it goes well with my 60 mining, but I haven't picked my other two crafting specs yet. I figured I would wait for the patch. Looking at the notes, I am thinking alch will probably be good, as everything takes those grade 3 dissolvents. I am guessing they are specialist, along with the new supramax potions. The dissolvents all take one of the new ores too, which again, seem to go well with my mining. Apart from that, BSM or ARM would seem logical to carry on the 'uses mining stuff' theme. BSM seems like the stronger option due to the 250 weapons, but ARM might have less competition. If the new cul recipies are worthwhile, I would be half-tempted to say 'screw it' and go straight for that. I like the idea of being a specialist cook. It could give me a consumable focus between potions and food. I know cul has historically been the worst specialization though. Newbie perma-group blind dungeon run: Amdapor Keep Group: PLD (me), SCH, MNK, SMN Thanks to being well-geared for fresh 50's, we had no issues with trash packs, even when we accidentally pulled two Dullohans along with a regular pack. Psycheflayer - A very straightforward fight for the first half. Kill the priest, then work on the Psycheflayer, killing the adds as they appear. We were a little perplexed at first by the colossus golem that gets summoned at 50% and ate a couple of AOE's. I moved the Psycheflayer to the corner of the room, and we were never in range of the AOE again. Seems like kind of a sloppy design, because I think the intent was to force the group to continually move as the golem marches around the room. Either way, we sent the boss to Psycheflayer Heaven and moved on. Demon Wall - We figured most of this one out before we even started the fight. A living wall at the far end of the room, and bottomless pits on either side. Gee, I wonder what will happen. The "dance" part was a bit surprising, but the purple poo poo on the floor always follows the same pattern and is easy to spot, so we got that down pretty quick. Otherwise, it seems like this is just a DPS race? I'm not sure what happens if the wall pushes you all the way to the door. I guess a wipe? I dunno, because we killed it instead. Anataboga - Lots of cone attacks to avoid! Our SCH's pet was in overdrive mode removing debuffs, though I'm not sure what all was being cast on us. Imminent Catastrophe is super-telegraphed, and we knew right away to hide behind the statues. The adds were no big deal -- animated statues died quick, and we were a bit spread out anyway so the eyes were never hitting more than one person. We just healed through it and gave the boss a dirt nap. Overall, we enjoyed Amdapor Keep, though it wasn't as memorable as some other dungeons. The trash was at a good level -- enough to get some exp and give you something to do, but not a ridiculous slog like Aurum Vale. The boss fights seemed designed to reinforce some basic dungeon concepts: positioning, line-of-sight, debuffs, etc., but they didn't feel very inspired on their own. We have a bunch of players out of town for the next few days, and we've just gathered all of the materials to build our first airship, so it'll probably be the weekend before we do the next dungeon. I'm lobbying for Haukke Manor Hard, since the original is my favorite vanilla dungeon, and I want to see what they've done with it since we killed(?) the mistress.

I thought for the longest time that this was an engine limitation, because it only really happened when either the skin changed significantly (ravana changing stances), or in the case of ratfinx, when he changes sizes, so they have to re-do him entirely to resize the target circle on the ground (if you pay attention, it only resizes after you lose target). But then the other day I had a moment. That can't be it, players do both of these all the time when using mounts, and it doesn't untarget them. Good to see it being fixed.

There are currently three seperate topics on the OF bitching about Egi Glamours being moved to 3.5 Ignoring the fact that the system is undoubtedly going to disappoint these same people because nothing short of dragging a full size primal ala FFXI will satisfy them, is this really something a lot of people give a poo poo about? I currently main SMN and it's never even registered to me as something that could be changed.

WhiteHowler posted:Newbie perma-group blind dungeon run: Amdapor Keep Just for some perspective: On the first boss, the aoe the big golem uses used to do a ridiculous amount of damage. Like, you would have probably died if it hit you. It was nerfed a lot. And at the gear levels when the game first came out, it definitely had a chance to wander all the way forward and back. On the second boss, it used to have bee adds. Which had aoe lightning attacks which I think paralyzed? It was one of the first gatekeeper encounters in the game, pugs had a lot of trouble with the bees. I can't remember if they changed much on the last boss. Maybe the orbs don't hurt as much? He still does the orbs if he lives long enough right? Oh, and the "hide behind the pillars" aoe used to mostly just kill people outright.

I still want egi-glamors so I can get carbuncle back Speaking of QoL upgrades, I'm glad they're swapping the earrings and necklace slots so the rightside slots match the order that vendors sell in. More than once I've bought an earring/necklace to replace a necklace/earring because reading is hard

A lot of people who "play" SMN and bitch about it in the OF (Keep in mind this takes a certain personality type) won't be happy until they can either summon a primal and AFK while it does a full dps member's worth of damage, or summon a primal every ten seconds, HELLFIRE FOR BIG DAMAGE and otherwise AFK. In other words, they're dumb and not worth listening to.

Don't be silly, the real primal summon is the LB3. Unfortunately it doesn't stop the fight for a 5 minute unskippable cutscene, maybe they'll fix that in 4.0

It's just too real animal like for my tastes. I prefer the more cartoon exaggerated look in 6-9. Actually never mind they should go with OG FFV carbuncle concept art.

You'd think that when you put stuff in the armoire and it removes all that stuff it was designed specifically to make the back end less bad for them. fount of knowledge posted:A lot of people who "play" SMN and bitch about it in the OF (Keep in mind this takes a certain personality type) won't be happy until they can either summon a primal and AFK while it does a full dps member's worth of damage, or summon a primal every ten seconds, HELLFIRE FOR BIG DAMAGE and otherwise AFK. In a perfect world they'd let everyone use limit breaks individually and adjust their power accordingly, then the summoner limit break could be a giant flashy hellfire or diamond dust or whatever. It's not a specifically needed thing, although the current LB system doesn't offer all that much flexibility, and using the healer LB outside of wiping city or void ark or something feels very much like you should have just wiped and started over anyway.

You'd think that when you put stuff in the armoire and it removes all that stuff it was designed specifically to make the back end less bad for them. The difference is that retainers cost money, the armoire does not. I think it has to do with how it re-updates the item list every x seconds or something silly. To fit it into the lore, they should just introduce a museum for equipment or whatever. To keep glamour crafters happy, it could take only uncraftable blues/greens, and every item you "donate" is actually gone. In turn, you can access the whole catalog of "donated" items whenever you go there, maybe throw in a Glamour Specialist NPC in every major city that also gives you access. If it's such a strain on the back-end, make access to the catalog require like 2$ a month. I'm p. sure a lot of people would do that in a heart beat. edit: bonus points if you can walk around the exhibition and see all the kick-rear end stuff you collected mounted on displays.
