Right now I need Johnny and GSP to win to finish is the slightly positive. Or I can just bet on every fight and recreate the card where I went 0-8

I won on OSP, Godbeer x2, lost on Gall, and have money still to go on Thompson to win and Paulo to win by KO/TKO/DQ. I am tempted to throw down a last minute bet on GSP to channel years of torment at the hands of bullying to knock out Bisping but that's a harder one to throw my money away at

Did anyone see what the odds were on Rose by round 1 KO? Some dude in Vegas who was half drunk and had $100 burning a whole in his pocket just made a mint.

For fans of future comedy, the Supreme Court is hearing arguments related to NJ attempting to legalize sports betting. I live in a place that does not have legal sports gambling, and I don't know how to find a bookie in a place that's mostly corn, pigs, and old people. Should they say the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act is unconstitutional, my state would likely approve sports betting because the state is hemorrhaging money because some dumbfucks looked at the situation in Kansas and thought "That's the way to govern a state," and went that route. Then I could Bet on MMA and be laughed at for losing money instead of in derision for posting badly. Article in case anyone was interested

It is really odd to me that in America, the land of "Freedom", you guys can't bet in some places. Is it only Nevada and some other small places where gambling is legal, or is it only a minority of places where there is no betting? How extreme does it go? Can I bet with my mate over something for who pays for lunch?

The only way I can think of how to describe this country is puritan. Certain states, you'd be likely to get your rear end kicked for saying "God drat" than "gently caress" and similar stuff. If something would make an old church lady nervous, you better believe some states have laws about it.

Find a pool hall or a bar with a bunch of pool tables and odds are you will find a bookie there or someone who knows a bookie. Also look for a local poker game and you will find a bookie. Also I always though it was weird that Montana and Delaware legalized sports booking but New York didn’t. States rights are awesome and all but sometimes it sucks if you are in a lovely state.

jase1 posted:Find a pool hall or a bar with a bunch of pool tables and odds are you will find a bookie there or someone who knows a bookie. Also look for a local poker game and you will find a bookie. Yeah, I didn''t know there was legal sports gambling outside of Nevada until I did some reading about it this morning. Re: pool hall, the nearest one to me is a two hour drive to a college town. When I said pigs, corn, and old people, I wasn't kidding. If I knew of a local poker game, I'd already be attending because it's really all the gambling I do. I played in a weekly game when I lived in New England, but now that I'm back in the midwest I don't know any players. And Willie, it's always odd to me as an American seeing betting website ads on British TV. I'm sure you'd be the same way if you saw prescription drug ads on TV, too. Most Americans are fine with betting on games. I don't know of anyone getting in trouble for friendly wagers. And if I remembered Jase's old threads correctly, he reports even illegal winnings to the IRS so he doesn't get hosed by the tax man, and as far as I know, that hasn't really gotten him in trouble. I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble for lunch bets or even cash with a buddy. That's not to say no one has ever gotten in trouble though. I just know of no examples. I can by scratch off lottery tickets for $20 each at a gas station, I can go to the casino and get a few thousand in chips for poker, but I can't legally wager $20 on Robbie Lawler/RDA here. If you look at the United States expecting thought out-reasoning behind why things are done here, you'd have an embolism.
