Traffic was in the settings since the beginning. But I've never seen it work until this morning.

My lineage os tablet running pixel 2 launcher didn't have it either until yesterday. Just randomly showed up. My pixel 2 has always had it.

Its really neat but not something I seem to get consistently. I really wish I could get the time to work to be a consistent thing and a part of the Google Home "Tell me about my day" default because well, its my every workday default commute so why is it not in "my Every Weekday"? EDIT: A few pages back there was a tweet with a successor in spirit of the Kyocera Echo. While the Echo came out with a neat concept, the main problem it had was the freaking specs were the same inside as a WiMax EVO not a Samsung S4. The problem with all the "Gimick" phones is instead of going all in on one to make it have a shot at succeeding, they always seem to half rear end it and doom it to fail because who wants a dual screen phone that will just force close 1/2 of the stuff you are trying to multitask because it has the same CPU/RAM as a phone made 2-4 years prior? The gimick needs hardware to back it up or it is just useless. The only Gimicks that seem to stick around are Apple's because they do it on the next best hardware and people buy it up. Probably not for the gimick, but because it has the best of everything Apple is putting out and they don't have a choice anyway. If other Android OEM's would try and take the lead on some sort of future gimick for once, they might surprise themselves that they don't need to copy Apples crappy design decisions to make a phone that will sell. So my Pixel 2XL randomly died, which is the next chapter in the drama of this phone. I randomly smashed the screen on the thing a few days after I got it in December, quickly got the screen replaced. They replaced it with the lovely screen (e.g. blue tint, etc.) when I previously had a good version. Now it just turned off and doesn't respond to anything. I liked the Pixel (first version) and honestly the 2XL for three days before I smashed it. However it has been acting funky over the past month or so, self inflicted or not. I don't know if I should replace it with another 2XL or just wait for the S9. I kind of wrote Samsung off after the S6 (which was a horrible phone), but apparently the newer ones are better. Any thoughts?

Isn't it still covered under warranty? It would be of no loss to you to call that in and get a whole new replacement unit potentially with a better screen.

Presumably not since I had the screen third party replaced. I am pretty sure that voids the warranty, though I did get the screen replaced through one of the repair people listed on Google's warranty site.

Is there any report that the blue tint isn't in newer revisions of the XL or that it's greatly reduced?

WattsvilleBlues posted:Is there any report that the blue tint isn't in newer revisions of the XL or that it's greatly reduced? I originally didn't buy one because the blue tint, but then BestBuy replaced their floor versions with one which was greatly improved. Then I broke my screen and they replaced it with an OEM version of the lovely screen. I would think you are fine if you buy it now. The issue appeared to have been with the initial releases.

I was kind of getting excited I can get rid of this crappy blue screen (with a variety of other odd issues) for a newer generation. How has Nokia support for Android been so far? The one thing that done me nuts with Symbian was how Nokia dropped support for their phones pretty much right after they were released because they were releasing new phones at such a furious pace.

It's been pretty decent, but that's actually irrelevant now that they are Android One across the board with the 2018 handsets. Stipulations of that program have Google requiring timely updates (major revisions for two years, monthly security for three.)

I think the Moto X4 Android One phones are still waiting for 8.1. Isn't that over 2 months behind what it's supposed to be? I don't put too much stock in the Android One branding.

I traded in my two Pixels and just now found some tempered glass screen protectors that were unused that I purchased last October apparently. I guess maybe I bought them as backup for when the active ones break. PM me and I'll ship them on my dime to whoever has two pixels or has a need, because I'm a dirty socialist. Oh also have these cases too I guess. Why yes that IS Nikola Tesla! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N96YWC7/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 OldPueblo fucked around with this message at 03:30 on Mar 2, 2018 |

I have a Moto G5 Plus with Mint Sim and I keep getting voice mails that I can't block. I get notified of a new voice mail but it doesn't tell me who it was that called me so I can't block it. I look in the history of calls and nothing shows up. How the gently caress does this happen. Is this an Android thing or a Mint Sim thing?

This question is partly app-related and partly Android related so I'll just put it in this thread... Keepass2Android beta supports the autofill API. It works great in most apps. I think it's supposed to work in Chrome, but I never see the autofill prompt so I'm not sure how to make that work. Anyone know whats up with that?

AFAIK, chrome doesn't yet support the auto fill API.

I get pretty regular traffic notifications from Google. Now if only they could work out, perhaps from my long history of constantly using apps and websites that are powered by Google algorithms to check bus schedules, that I ride the bus anywhere and that bus schedule notifications would be way more useful to me than traffic notifications. At least the travel times in the feed seem to have worked it out. FOR NOW.

This seems like the best place to ask this question - where do you find replacement batteries that are actually good? Are there consistently reliable sources, or is it just a matter of picking one of the less-badly reviewed options and hoping you get something that works?

I say don't even bother trying to find OEM batteries, they're often counterfeit or worn out. I went for an Anker battery for my Note 3 and didn't have any issues.

I can't believe Samsung managed to outdo the pixel 2 in terms of camera quality this year. Excited to test the dual aperture thing! I keep telling myself dual speakers, a brighter even more accurate display and the beefed up sensor/lens makes this more than incremental over last year and is actually worth doing. Let's see how badly they gently caress up my trade in. Whee.

I'm will be surprised if it doesn't. 8 managed to outdo 7's camera when both are using the same sensors purely through better software processing, and 9 has a better sensor and whatever software improvements Samsung copypastaed from Google.

It's really close in terms of iphonex/pixel2/this. It just tends to retain less noise in low light conditions because they went and built a dual aperture smartphone camera..which is kinda rad if you think about it considering the fixed nature of everything before it. Let's not kid ourselves that any of these would survive any sort of large format printing, but this thing could easily pass for a non dslr point and shoot at this point. The dynamic range is impressive for what it is. e: also praying this new lens mechanism isn't a fun mechanical fail point in the future...i guess we'll see!
