The funny thing about Floor to me is that I had heard of them back in the day from a Spazz 7" and I didn't really like what they were doing so I basically wrote them off until hearing Oblation.

that awesome compilation from a few years ago really shows how different and uneven their stuff was. i still love the self-titled and dove.

Haha, this was uploaded by the guy that runs my local record store.

I've been in a serious love affair with all of Steve Brooks' music for the last two to three years.

They've put a third track from the new record out as well.

you guys should really listen to their self titled. massive loving riffs and real nice vocal melodies. it's not as sugary or noodly as torche, there's a raw edge to it. i was a bit dissapointed with the new albums sound, it was really polished and a bit soulless.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxTzXntka9E

also just in case someones not familiar with them, henry from floor played drums on this album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZEDvxjUq24

steve played guitar on an earlier ep, too:

Thanks for the reminder, I'm giving it a proper listen now. It's really good. I see what you mean about this vs. Oblation, there is a bit more depth here. This thread is the best.

Just doing some date checking and it looks like ASG are have some US dates coming up and they'll be there in March. :toot:

In April though we get Full of Hell and The Body together, and that should be loving sweet. I can't wait to see The Body's new van.

Even though I live in Brooklyn, I saw "Brooklyn's Next Great Doom Band," saw the picture on this article, and assumed this would be terrible.

But in fact, this is some loving solid doom.

If this is the same show I'm thinking of (The Body/Full of Hell), Sacridose is going to be opening for that show. They're not sludge metal per se, but they're one of Florida's finest.

Between that show, Inter Arma/Yautja, and All Pigs Must Die/Pelican, Tampa is getting some really great doom shows lately.

Waaaait, are Pelican are playing the APMD show, like the Winter of Darkness show? Cause had not heard that.

And yeah, I'm loving the steady flow of stoner metal shows. If this keeps up it's gonna be one hell of a year for riffs.

It's so good. The Oro double LP was a really solid effort too but it wasn't very surprising. This new song however hit me in the face like a really loving heavy thing. And God that tone is so, so sexy.

You're in for a treat. I'll keep an eye out for you, but there's probably going to be a few people matching that description, so I'll give you "the nod" before we try to engage in awkward banter.

I got baked as gently caress and forgot to look for you, my bad.

Sleep absolutely crushed. This is the third time I've seen them since 2010, and by far the best. Solid and powerful from start to finish.

They played for about an hour and 45 minutes, and this was the setlist as I recall it:

the first 1/3 of Dopesmoker
The Clarity
Dragonaut
Aquarian
Sonic Titan
Holy Mountain
From Beyond->Dopesmoker (Cultivator->Improved Morris)

The middle 1/3, including the long vocal section and the second guitar solo, hasn't been performed live for a while. They used to play those sections when "Dopesmoker" was a lot faster, but as far as I know, they haven't done so since it slowed down during the recording process. I don't think they've ever played the parts after "Improved Morris" live either.

So uhhhh I guess Black Pyramid is still a thing and they've got a 7in with two new songs coming out in April? I thought they'd called it quits and that The Scimitar was the new band that was basically the same thing only with like no original members left.

I don't know if anyone backed The Body's indiegogo thing to help them get a van a while back, but if you didn't you're missing out on IM logs from the band to the guy who's supposed to be mixing (or rather supposed to have already mixed) the thing. I feel kinda bad for them, but I also want my stupid CD.
