Does that deflect the shell right into the crew?

I'm not really convinced they're more dangerous than a regular hat without some testing to demonstrate that. More specifically, I'm skeptical that a seriously heavy pointed object would be effectively deflected by a regular style hat but would catastrophically penetrate a good condition, properly rated hate of the dumb cowboy style. I might be wrong but I don't think I'd worry if I were the kind of dude who wanted to wear the cowboy thing.

Yeah. The mantlet is some of the thickest armor but the curvature can ricochet hits down into the thin top armor.

ERM... Actually I have stellar scores on the surveys, and every year students tell me that my classes are the best ones they’ve ever taken.

Also if say a big heavy spike falls off centre onto a regular helmet it will be deflected away from you. This arrangement will deflect it toward where it can do the most damage. It's anti-protection, like boob plate for your head.

It also seems like if they became common it would be hard to tell if someone was sneaking by with a regular white cowboy hat

They say the same thing about motorcycle helmets. Maybe it's true, maybe they are just trying to get you to buy a new one more often. But when it comes to my brain I'm willing to spend the money.
Whatever replacement schedule they give you is mosdef a worst case CYA scenario, but especially if you work outdoors you’ll want to keep to it or close to it, sunlight does a loving number on plastics.

Right onto the hatches above the driver's head. This (hopefully) kills the crab.

The Panther V's were either a D, A, or G but you can't tell without seeing more. The D was also the most rare early version and was in production the shortest amount of time

Yeah. The advice for motorcycle helmets usually includes lines like "the UV in sunlight causes plastics to break down" and "fuel and oils can damage the foam inside" and so on

and it's like, okay, sure, but most motorcyclists expose their helmets to the sun for like 6 hours once a week if that, and most people aren't regularly spilling gasoline all over themselves. If you're commuting on a motorcycle every day, sure, replace it after 5 years. But in that case it'll probably be grody and worn out anyway before that point. If you're the average American motorcyclist, who puts on less than 1000 miles a year, then your helmet is probably just fine after 5 years of "use."

I am hanging on to my helmet style. They had a rash of sawdust getting in peoples eyes so they went ham and bought these ridiculous looking mega-man style helmets that have visors that drop down for double eye protection.

They also dictated foam lined glasses are to be worn when using airguns to clean sawdust, which fog up instantly and is super safe if your blowing down machines standing on elevated chainways

Yes, the driver or the radist/bow machinegunner seated at the front when the turret is facing forward. Later versions of the gun mantlet have a thicker, flat lower portion to prevent this unfortunate possibility.

This just happened here... the guy somehow lost control of his RV at the top of a hill. The hills in the region have "stop beds" (or whatever you'd call it in english) where you can drive onto and it'll stop your car, in case your breaks fail. (Those hills can be pretty unforgiving, we got stop beds like that in Baie-Saint-Paul and other places too for the same reason.)

He was driving down at high speed in the wrong way, couldn't reach the stop bed, honking all the way down to warn anyone in the way.
He had nowhere else to go, hit the ramp as the ferry was leaving.

Died on the spot.

Guy in the video is saying "those ramps are solid as gently caress" before the "tabarnak" as the RV crashes down.

They are just fiberglass shells mounted to a ladder frame. I wouldn't want to be in one if it crashed.

A few questions about the "shot trap" thing, how large of a shot are we talking here? What kind of assault rifle caliber magazine would that take, assuming you were using a Machined Gun.

edit- also i think the second amendment should learn to speak spanish so it can get a job once it's repealed (via socialism.)

what? a shot trap is a design flaw that directs an enemy 'shot' back into itself instead of deflecting it away

so, as large as an enemy tank's round

An anti-tank shell kind of shot. There's still 17mm of armor on the top of the tank.

A .50 calibre round fired from an M2 HMG could nominally punch through that amount of amor, but only at extremely close range ( <500m ), and probably not on a ricochet off the mantlet.
