A little bit of Z porn for you all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LC_4J1MmRU That's the Office Tomitaku S30Z with the nearly-one-off OS Giken 24v hand-built head on it. Check out the dyno chart, followed shortly by the insane yell it makes as it approaches its huge redline.

Hypnolobster posted:Paging frozenphil, how built up/stock are the internals to accomplish that? You can do it stock, but better rods and pistons will make it last someplace other than a dyno. I doubt he has much more in it than just rods and pistons at that horsepower level. You don't really need cams, port work, etc... to get to 1k horsepower with a 3.4 Whipple on a GT500. Hellion did it with a stock engine and a twin turbo kit using 57mm turbos.

It was a pretty unspectacular run for a 1000whp supercharged, nitro-ed V8.

There was a big thread about his idea of putting Cleveland heads on a stroked Windsor block never working and that video was the proof that it could work. He kinda brought back the whole Clevor thing. BTW, that little 408 tops out at 9500RPM.

Higher factor of safety = more weight. Something as simple as a small dent from a rock that was kicked up could have put the part over the edge.

It was the right-front upright that failed. STR apparently was running new parts, and they broked. The reason why the wheels flew off was because the tethers holding the wheels on were tethered to the part of the car that cracked.

What's also impressive is how high the tyres bounce off the fence - there's some serious hang time / distance they got after they left the track. That was incredible luck no one was killed.
