Epoxy is a really good floor covering for plant/shop/garage stuff, though obviously you can choose remarkably terrible looking stuff.

If you manage to oops into snapping a 3/4" galvanized pipe you are probably deserving of what you get. Even if the valve were on the line is capped. That gas line is a total non-issue.
