You've done well, kiddo.
What really gets me about this, is I think Boris really does want a deal, he realises what a loving disaster crashing out would be. I mean, they all do, except most of the tories who actually want to crash out is because they stand to make a huge amount of money from disaster capitalism and selling off public services.

So Boris has this shtick where he thinks he if gives an ultimatum to the EU they will have to concede ground and offer him something extra.

What he doesn't seem to understand is that the EU isn't staying firm out of some kind of spite, they literally can't give a better deal because it would collapse the entire thing if suddenly the countries learned you didn't have to be in the union for the sweet perks and can just pick and choose what you want.

Secondly, he is giving an ultimatum without actually wanting to go through with the threat, like he's separating himself from a conjoined twin, and because the twin was happy being joined to this fuckwit it isn't going to let him take their shared dick, so instead of working out a deal to maybe get one of the balls he is threatening to shoot himself in the head if he doesn't get the whole shlong. Except he really doesn't want to shoot himself in the face, because that would be loving stupid, he is just hoping by acting irrationally for long enough the other half will just kill itself instead so he gets everything. And he has been holding this gun to his head for so long now, everyone is just hoping he will do it to stop the loving drama.

Like I almost shouted at my dad the other day, he voted remain and now he is so bored by it all he just want's it done and for us to leave, without realising that if we actually just left we would still be left with a decaying loving corpse that we'd have to drag with us everywhere while we get pitying looks from the rest of the planet and spend years begging countries to let us in the cool kids club again.

He doesn't seem to realise that this poo poo is going to go on for years, even if we revoke art. 50 tomorrow Brexit will dominate politics for the next decade.

Then I asked him what he thought of Cummins and he didn't know who I was talking about and I told him if he ever votes tory he will never see his grandson again.

HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY ALLEGORY.

No, I don't think there's anything parliament can do about that. There was a bill to stop no deal, so Boris now has to go ask the EU for an extension.

A few questions:

What happens is Boris asks for an extension and the EU says no? Can he shrug, tell parliament "I tried," and move on with no-deal Brexit? What would happen if he tried to do that?

What happens if they agree to an extension, but not one as short as 3 months?

Is a VONC followed by an election, or a VONC followed by a confidence vote in a new MP, the only way to remove a PM in this case under the FTPM? Say, if a PM deliberately acts unlawfully but there isn't sufficient numbers or political will for a VONC--is that an edge case based on decorum and tradition that isn't planned against?

If the European Council refuses an extension (unlikely IMO, as long as there's a realistic prospect of an election/2nd referendum), there will be a no-deal Brexit on October 31st unless Parliament passes the Withdrawal Agreement Bill after all.

A decision to extend for a longer period than three months requires the agreement of the exiting member state. Some French MPs from Macron's party are proposing a two-year extension, which would be amazing, but they're probably just posturing. Once a decision on a new Brexit date has been taken though, the British government can't unilaterally change it anymore.

Don't know about the last question.

Pain is inevitable.
Suffering is optional.
Thunderdome is forever.
Vindolanda is pretty cool because a cache of letters written by normal people were discovered there, unusually for Roman times where most of what we have is the (often rubbish) witterings of the great and the good

Of course most of these letters were to Europe and thus will be outlawed in glorious Britanenia
