I think we're at risk for a two-quarter contraction. Is the definition of a recession four consecutive quarters?

Imo ISM being negative all of last and 0 earning growth was a technical recession.

I have stocked up but feels like whenever I go to grocery store the only thing that is missing is toilet paper. You can easily find any food you want.

As someone who has used a bidet while living in Asia previously, I don't really mind no toilet paper.

I don't trade options yet and I don't know how. Just regular mutual funds / ETFs.

I've got 4/3 and 4/17 puts. Really not sure what to do as it feels like they are just far enough out to not get totally hosed.

Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.

You can spend as much as you want on bidets, with heated seats, luxo lighting, and a bidet head that you can adjust the position and angle of, so $200 is not a gouging price. Pre-tp-panic you could buy a $1k bidet.

The typical water pressured powered attachments that go under your toilet seat and fork off your cold water inlet (no seat, electronics, heater etc) are generally ~$30ish. Looks like they're all out of stock right now.

I got mine months ago off amazon, it was like $30. It's an attachment to an existing toilet.

$200+ is for the electric ones with heated water/seat, blow drying, control panel, and rain forest sounds built in. A simple mechanical one should be like $25-$50. There is a little price gouging going on, but mostly it's just a case of people buying up all the cheap ones and leaving the expensive ones on the shelf. Calls on TOTO for the shitpocalypse.

Panic buyers aren't crafty so if you really want a bidet just get yourself hooked up with a tee fitting and a sink sprayer from the local hardware.

You guys talk that the response hasn't been as bad as 2008... But isn't this the same playbook at this point? Why wouldn't I expect another big recession again?

Bill McBride is one of the most level-headed and sensible commenters out there, and he thinks we’re currently in a recession.

Not that that’s any real surprise given everything that’s going on... but not too many people have actually come out to say it yet.

You should. They just can't say that out loud.

e: Japan and South Korea needed a few minutes to set puts (since they didn't get to on Friday), and now they've turned negative.

US stock circuit breakers are 7%, 13%, and 20% before they call it a day, so we'll see. Anything outside of that framework would be extremely destabilizing.

From my understanding in the US it literally would not be possible to see anything outside of that framework (max negative 20% per day).

The implication I read into it is for either NYSE or the Dept of the Treasury to pre-emptively close the markets. That would be a shitstorm of epic proportions.

Gold barely off its low close of Friday before massive qe in US and even Australia fed starting qe. The future contracts of gold have been known to be manipulated regularly but this just seems weird.
