I think it's really that t-shirts are generally considered to look scruffy, regardless of condition.

They probably only checked to see if they could connect to whatever was on the end of the link, and when they couldn't just assumed that it must be the connection that was at fault.

Things pissing me off today: Barracuda web filters! Two of them, to be exact. Unit A has decided to stop doing any kind of filtering, stop responding to pings, and whatever web server they run is refusing to start up. I hooked up a monitor and keyboard to it and it thinks that everything is peachy. What do you mean something's wrong? Surely you must be mistaken. It's going straight in the river. Unit B thinks that it's working but it's not doing any kind of filtering what so ever and, as far as I can tell, doesn't think there's any traffic going through it. None of the logs show anything working or not working, the cache isn't being hit at all, and I can get to websites that I've specifically blacklisted for both authenticated and unauthenticated users. It will catch a random request here and there but that seems to happen within the first five minutes of turning it on and then it stops and acts like a passthrough. It also keeps incorrectly categorizing what it does catch. For example, it thinks that outlook.office365.com is a Shopping website. Since I work for a school, we need to be CIPA compliant and our web filter allowing everything isn't good.

Why is it when you get picked up by one company all the places you were applying to when searching deem it "the perfect time" to try and contact you and try to bring you in?

I'm just sitting here trying to get motivated to send out some more resumes and applications. It really sucks because I hate having to type the same poo poo over and over and over and over. If only there was some way for a company to have an easy-to-reference document of an applicant's name, address, education, certifications, work experience and responsibilities... It would be nice if someone developed a universal database that would allow me to click on "Apply for Job" and then input my profile link and have everything at hand, but no - every loving company has to have their own special teacup that requires me to input the same poo poo that's on my resume (which they want as well), but then I have to go back and validate all the information that their lovely parsing application is incapable of actually uploading correctly. I don't understand the mentality of companies posting job openings, but instead of using the convenient applicant information that the job board has already collected, instead require to go to their website and re-enter that poo poo. Is this some sort of endurance test to see if I stroke out in agitation before I finish? If so, it seems to be working. I actually quit applying for a position that I was actually a pretty good fit for because it would take me 45 minutes just to input all my information, even though the first thing I did was upload my resume. I hate looking for a job.

This was the last thing I felt like doing, especially after paying $3,296.20 a couple hours ago for a remanufactured transmission for my truck (9 years old with only 66,000 miles on it - I'm sending an email to Ford about their lovely transmission history with the 2005 F-150's). I'm feeling very unmotivated today, and I might go to bed early just so this lovely day ends before anything else can go wrong.

Pissing me off: Trying to find a computer on the network infected with Zeus trojan botnet without access to the ASA firewall logs or admin access to switches. There's contractor who manages these things at this site and he is pretty unresponsive most of the time (another issue). Any ideas? I could setup a hub in between the firewall and the switch and sniff packets that way but I'd have to break internet access.

poo poo that's pissing me off - my boss had our electrician run cables to mount access points instead of having them sit in cabinets. No problem, except I found out today...when there was a meeting in the room and nobody could use the conference room phone. After a bit of troubleshooting, I was told by my boss that the electrician mounted the access point and must have swapped the cables. Whoops! Good thing these aren't color coded for the different VLANs or anything, that would make it too easy. Swapped it back properly, phone finally works, and everyone complained that they got disconnected from their internet session. Oh and he changed the password to the switches on each floor and didn't think to tell me because.... americanzero4128 fucked around with this message at 20:39 on Apr 8, 2014 |
