I was thinking of getting one at $60 because it's cheaper than an actual Vita but I had 2 questions:

1. is the smallest memory stick worth it? These things are stupidly priced.

b. does Tales of Hearts work on it? I don't know how updated that compatibility list is.

Yep, but you're going to run out fast if you go digital.

Is it better to get the Combo if I dont own a memory card etc or the $60 deal that was posted earlier?

Mainly will probably play Sword Art Online to start.

Do you have a Dual Shock 3?

If you don't, you'll probably be better off with the combo. If you don't get that, you'll be paying $60 for the PSTV + $50 for the controller + $30 for the memory card.

Be warned that the combo's memory card is only 8GB, which can fill up quickly. If you do have a DS3, getting the PSTV for $60 and $30 for the memory card will still put you in under the combo price.

My last Playstation was the 2. No controller or anything.

I only really plan on playing Sword Art Online to start. That should fit in the 8gb card to start.

I bought the base unit because I already have a controller. Thought about getting the combo for the memory card but Amazon has 16gb cards for $30 which hopefully will be enough.

Yeah, my 16 holds about three big games plus around fifteen small ones, it's a decent size. That's what I went with for the same reason, then a week later the base unit went $20 cheaper.

When you launch the game from the icon, before you his start go up to the top and hit the icon that looks like arrows in a circle. I have to do that for games periodically to get them working.

Just picked up s PSTV for PS4 remote play and some games for the kids.

The PSTV won't show up at all through my HDMI switch, only directly connected. This is an HDCP issue right? The switch is about 4 years old at this point now so I'm not opposed to getting a new one.

It sounds like one, but I'm kind of surprised you haven't run into a related issue before if so.

Come to think of it, my PS4 didn't work with this switch either when I got it. I ended up moving it to my other TV upstairs.

So part of the reason I bought one of these things was so I could play some of the weird little Japanese games that have been released on Sony platforms over the years. Problem is, I don't really know what's good and I don't want to spend $40+ on a game that turns out to be poo poo. Do you guys have any suggestions? I'm open to anything. I already have P3 and P4, plus Kenka Bancho and a handful of old PS1 RPGs.

I think there are a bunch of people who can create trailing images. I know some who could do this as if they were just going out for a stroll.
There are various degrees of weird and/or Japanese, but look at, in no particular order: Akiba's Trip, Muramasa, the Ys games, the Atelier games, Tales of Hearts, Natural Doctrine, Zettai Hero Project, Disgaea 4, Yggdra Union, Half-Minute Hero. Some of these are PSP, and I also didn't check Vita TV compatibility.

Ys: Memories of Celceta currently doesn't work unless you pick up the Japanese version, although other Ys games are fine. Same for Disgaea 3, but 4 is OK. I think everything else on that list works.

So I seem to have this weird problem going on, or I'm just not understanding how to turn the thing back on. The first time I just shut it down. Went to try it later, pushed the power button, it blinks. No signal on my TV. Pressed the PS button on my DS4, it lights up blue, but no signal. Same thing happened when I did it from standby. The only way this thing will turn back on is if I unplug it for about 30 seconds, and then plug it in so it just auto boots back on. Is mine defective, or am I missing something simple?

I've never had that problem, but you should also be able to long-press the power button on the front to force it to shut off if I remember right. Don't recall how long you have to hold it. Also if you're only using the controller wirelessly, try hooking it in with a cable and see if the buttons work then. Are you using that DS4 with your PS4 as well? No HDMI splitters or anything like that?

Speaking of the DS4, if you're using the controller for your PC as well as the Vita TV, make sure you power the VTV off, not just suspend it, before playing it on the PC. Unlike with the PS4, connecting the DS4 to the PC with the USB cable will not reset the bluetooth connection, so if you happen to press the PS button while playing on the PC you'll power on the Vita TV and all the button presses you do in the PC game will also be sent to the VTV.

Imagine my surprise when I shut down my PC for the night and my monitor, which is connected to both the VTV and the PC, instead of displaying the "no signal" message came up with a game manual currently at page 21 as well as 5-6 other various program tabs open in the background.

Or you could just avoid pressing the PS button on the DS4, I guess....

No splitters, I even tried on two separate tvs. It's very odd, I've long pressed short pressed and got every light blinking combo it'll do but no screen. I finally got it back on, and tested out standby mode, then pressed the DS4 PS button and it came back on. Not sure if this thing just times out after so long, but considering when you plug it in it is automatically just supposed to turn on not sure why it doesn't always do that. Also, what power button in the front? I only see the one next to the memory card slot.

You don't really have to use the power button at all.

Long-hold the PS button on the controller and select Standby or Power Off. It will also turn off the controller. Next time you want to play, use the controller's PS button -- I think it's a quick press if you're in standby, or a long hold if you powered off (I pretty much always standby). The PSTV should turn on after a few seconds.

I've had mine for a few weeks now, and I don't think I've ever touched the physical power button other than the very first time I turned it on.

No such luck, well the standby mode worked 5 seconds after putting it into it. But I just got home grabbed the DS4 pushed the PS button, the light turns on, and the TV says no cable connected. I have no clue what is going on with this thing. Does the HDMI-CEC affect control over this thing? If I push the power button on the TV remote it will turn off the VITA TV as well. When I push the PS button it "turns" on both but no signal.

I setup my PSTV in a different room to see if I could remote watch WWE Network and a screen that says "Remote Viewing disabled blah blah" pops up. That sucks. I'm having a couple of people over to watch the PPV tonight and was hoping to avoid perching my PS4 on the ledge under the wall-mounted TV. Also I'm lazy and didn't want to move the console from the monitor in my bedroom. Boo.

Yeah, most streaming apps are blocked from remote viewing, which makes the lack of PSTV-native apps extra-annoying.
