Challenges round 1, update 4

Starting out looks like that Vagran was the ship research hub then. (Thrawn is on Orto according to 200 day old intel). As well Ozzel is here. I wonder if he bit the head off a bat or something.

I sent Leia to Sesswenna, since there is just one planet left to flip in Sluis, and Dodonna is on it. It means when she gets there she can bring her pretty drat good diplo here to stop the bleed. As well, if I have a chance to trigger the skywalker family tree, it means she’s getting a crazy good stat boost.

Well, that’s nice.

Shuffle continues. HQ is now on space-france. Gonna get me some space-brie, space-calvados, and space-foie gras (Malheureusement, j’ai deteste foie gras, mais c'est la vie)

Looks like they are stuffing the fleet with troops to have better luck capturing Luke on his training missions. Which is actually disturbingly smart of the AI. They don’t succeed FWIW

I am sending diplomats to every planet in the core I can before they flip. Some will arrive sadly too late, but I need to slow the bleed as I am terming it.

Let’s take a look at our potential Jedi. A couple hundred stats, which ain’t bad. Maybe training if I train her will help.

As you can see, the build up begins.

Keep up the good work science boys!

It begins!

Jesus Han.

Yeah, things aren’t going well diplomatically

They’ve brought in even more assholes to try to capture Luke. They still fail.

Leia’s arrived in system, so I am sending her to hopefully grab us Yaga Minor.

Some intel given to me says Darth is Uvena. So, when Luke gets back, I am sending him out!

Or not. Oh well, I did enough training. IIRC (Cause I didn’t screenshot) Luke is just north of 170 in Combat, and north of 100 in the other stats.

Aw, I was hoping for a few more corpses from Han. As we all were.

Still moving. And with that we end this update.

Tune in next time for Jedis, big space battles, and hopefully Han remembering that we demand blood!

false. So you know those empty rim planets? If you send a fleet into orbit you can place troops from the fleet onto the planet, making it "yours". Once you remove those units the planet becomes empty again. However, once you have troops on the planet you can build facilities and once a factory/mine arrives the planet will be 100% loyal to you. That's when you start building 12+ shipyards/factories/... on the planet and turn it into a production powerhouse.

OTOH, if you want to colonize the rim faster, move the HQ onto the planet. It functions the same as a normal factory, but far faster. You can convert all empty planets in a rim sector to 100% loyalty within 30 days. They'll be empty of course, but you've got prime real-estate waiting to be developed, far from empire saboteurs/fleets.

Oh man, this game.

I just remember multiplayer of this....and how it would inevitably devolve into brutal protracted scorched earth affairs as both of us used characters and stacks of infiltrators to annihilate all infrastructure to cripple the other, or liquidate all infrastructure before a fleet captured the planet.

Later games had a 50-100 day "no sabotage" ceasefire to get things started.

Challenge update 5: Let the bodies hit the floor

Unlike Han’s targets, I ain’t dead yet! So, let’s get this last round of challenges done.

So to recap, Luke is on Dagobah, hopefully getting powered up. The Sesswenna system, thanks to Darth Vader is flipping to Imps against us. Han is tooling around Corellia with the dirty tricks squad blowing things up and crippling their research efforts. In a far off outer rim system I can’t be assed to look the name up of, I’m having a massive ship buildup going on. HQ is resting on Poderis. As well, I am trying to deal with that mineral imbalance by pumping refineries around the rim. I also was in school.

Han continues to blow poo poo up.

Fleet build up continues. Now, I know I have ranted and loathed the bulk cruiser. So you may wonder why I am building what appears to be multiple. All will be revealed in good time.

Oh hi Prune face

Awesome. Imperial Starfighters are no longer a threat at all.

Leia keeps on keeping on diplomacying.

I’m losing the Diplo arms race it seems. Good think I have a massive fleet build up going

Thank you Leia.

Must have missed the recruitment message for this guy. Getting sent to the core to stop the bleed.

Random Rim Resource Receptacle Recruited

Yeah, the diplo in the core is not looking good. Yes, we have Sluis, but Corellian is not going my way, and Sesswenna is a back and forth. But I have colonized the rim nicely (IT was the Orus sector from the start I guess). Also, HQ is on Daltar now. I still have a lack of refined mins.

This is good news too. If I can keep it from flipping back, I’ll be in strong position.

So here’s where it’s at. I have the three top planets of Sesswenna, which co-incidentally are the three farthest from my shipyards. I also stupidly noticed I am not doing anything to keep them loyal really. D’oh. I do see I’ve sent Leia to Corellia to flip it. Maybe I can get a second fleet base going, supporting Xyquine (which in my head I keep making Xynique)

Oh, now it’s at Daltar

Thanks Han for checking your bloodlust to only injure Pellaeon

Oh good. So, Sullustan’s IMHO are the best Garrison troops in the game. Not because they have good bombardment or assault defense. Instead they are really really cheap but also have really good detection rate. So, basically, you can stuff a planet full for cheap, and stop enemy missions. If you have two good shields up as well, their defense rating really doesn’t matter.

I sent the fleet around busting up Enemy Tie Garrisons just for funsises.

Luke’s back! He skipped the Jedi Student/Jedi Knight stage straight to master. Look at that stat gains. 50 points in diplo and espionage, and a full 80 gain (roughly) in combat, making him an incredible beast.

So, this on my fleet. Which has no troops aboard. Just some random spec-ops, c-listers, Han (who is off on a mission with the c-listers) and tons of fighters. Which is a great example of how even ships can have good detection.

Han...I thought you were cool and murdery.

Oh goodness. I am very happy now.

There’s the Han I know and love. Killing Enemy researchers is the best way to win.

Leia is getting quite good at diplomacy. Also, her Leadership is equal to Luke’s but Luke can be ranked up to general, while Leia can’t be a general. Again. Leia. Cannot. Be. A. General. Total bullshit.

Oh Han, thank you for removing this stain from the EU

Example of why the AI is dumb. So we have Palp on a random world in Corellia. Not recruiting. Not even doing a mission. Just chilling. So, no throne power bonus. Plus Covell. Who is good at two things. Research (Selonia doesn’t even have a troop facility) and leadership. He has no role. Also, no loving security really on the planet with Palp. Way to protect a win condition.

Thank you Leia!

Oh Han, another dead troop researcher? You shouldn’t have

So, so far 5 dead. Both troop researchers, one ship researcher, super researcher and Daala. So, basically, they have one ship researcher, and two facility researchers left. I think I’m going to win here.

Especially since I got Admiral Trap here who is our third ship researcher. Take that Thrawn!

So Mon Cal regiments. Right after I recruit Ackbar. That..makes sense? Anyways, these guys are the best defensive value troops in the game. They are costly though. With my playstyle, I only really use them on planets I absolutely need to hold. Otherwise, I use sullustans.

Ok…..so...uh………..

Honestly, I have no loving clue. I sent Leia to abduct Palp as kinda a way to super Jedi train her. See, they have a custom event, and if Leia escapes she gets a hefty force point jump. And it’s repeatable. And if she got captured Han and Co would rescue her. Unfortunately, the RNG decided to be nice, and she uh captured him with no backup. So that’s a thing.

To be quite honest, I still don’t know why there are so many dead bodies this run. This is the first time I’ve seen this happen while playing Rebel

I decide to Jedi Train Roget. I mean, I doubt she’ll get crazy awesome stats but hey, it’s doing something while I wait for the fleets.

Awesome. So this is the Rebel interdictor. It’s not great, but tbf, it’s not supposed to be. It does one thing. Pair it with some escort carriers loaded up with a-wings/b-wings. Go hog wild.

Ouch. This hurt. That’s a lot of industrial capacity, and check how badly my refined mineral pool dropped.

Cool. Last rebel character recruited. I think I need to post a new character, ships, and now troops update.

Speak of the Devil, the last troops are done, and it’s the best Rebel assault troops. Of course, I just bombard from Orbit, so it doesn’t really matter, but what the hey.

Well then. Whose the better diplomat? My three top ones, or Darth? Shall we find out?

No. But we did learn who is the bigger serial killer I guess.

Oh good, you learned some force. That’s special. NOW GET BACK AT IT

And the HQ arrives at home.

So, that’s that then. See, all I have left is to take Coruscant, which I have the fleet power to do. It will probably be very very boring, so instead, I’m just going to call this challenge over.

I’ll start the canon challenge next week!
