What nobody is mentioning here is that Tyler Boyd is also in a contract year this year. if any of those three great WRs is leaving the Bengals in the next two years, it’ll be Boyd first via free agency. He is turning 30, after all. For the defense: Apple will be re-signed to the same deal because Lou Anarumo likes him and the rest of the league doesn’t want to deal with his poo poo, Jessie Bates is gone (which is why the bengals took Dax Hill in the first last year), and Vonn Bell who knows. Germaine Pratt may get the franchise tag if he doesn’t accept the insulting offer that’s coming down the line (see Jessie bates last year). people make lots of noise about the Bengals’ owner being cheap but he does pay certain positions. QB and WR are two of those positions. S is not, and LB is usually also not.

for like 15 years the bengals would often have a player on the roster doing very little for at least their rookie year and usually the year after that before being given serious roles. that happened to Boyd in a big way because his level as a player would have been as a good third option, and he was underused for that then suddenly got thrust into being the low rent first option on bad teams when AJ Green was constantly breaking down and their panic top 10 pick wr didn't work out
