I have the suspicion that the NRA seeds stories like that deliberately every time they’ want to squeeze their donors and lowly chuds, but on the other hand throwing rallies in response to every mass shooting in this loving country and pumping PR up to 11 every time cannot be a cost effective use of their funds.

Also I wonder if they grew the organization too much and expected someone else in the white house, so now there isn't a great fear to lead to increasing membership, plus extra donor money, rember one of the big fire arms makeers actually recently went bankrupt.

The other context is that it's in a court filing where they have to argue that big mean Cuomo is hurting them so I kind of doubt how hurt they really are.
