Guy Goodbody posted:Pecking parties only happen in situations where the chickens can run around. If the chickens are battery farmed where they're cooped up all day and can't move, they get their beaks cut off because otherwise they'd go crazy and kill each other ya but junglefowl only live in flocks of 1 rooster & 4-5 hens, and dominate a pretty wide territory per flock traditional chicken farming is still too cramped for their instincts

Dairy Days posted:15 an hour in california, noted bastion of low costs of living, please do go on quote:He hired 483 U.S. applicants, slightly less than a quarter of what he needed; 109 didn’t show up on the first day. Another 321 of them quit, “the vast majority in the first two days,” Carr testified. Only 31 lasted for the entire peach season. quote:Or perhaps farms are just not a place where native-born Americans want to work. The job is seasonal, so laborers have to alternate between long stretches without any income and then months of 60-hour weeks. They work in extreme heat and cold, and spend all day bending over to reach vegetables or climbing up and down ladders to pluck fruit in trees. I'm shocked that people are actually trying to argue against the idea that americans/brits simply don't want to do farm work unless it pays extremely well because farm labor is poo poo and destroys your body mechanization and automation is going to transform agriculture long long before the industry pays laborers enough money to attract americans away from cubicle farms

i remember reading about the similarities between park geun-hye, daughter of dictator daddy who was assassinated, and trump who also campaigned on mythical nostalgia (in south korea's case a time where they had strong economic growth but zero civil rights and could literally be tortured to death) and the same amazement by non-conservative koreans at her electoral success from what i read she was deeply unpopular with anyone outside of her constituency, however the thing that broke support with that group was simply that after it turned out she was a massive cuck of her crazy cult friend she couldn't maintain her 'tough' image she was still smarter and more competent than trump lmao
