Concerned Citizen posted:i'm talking about the dnc's "pied piper" strategy during the primaries, not hillary's campaign which obviously had its own problems Just the name "pied piper strategy" should make you pause and reconsider your course of action. Of course, this is asking way too much from Robbie Mookish and the rest of the clowns in brooklyn.

Terror Sweat posted:tbh it probably would have turned out better if they did it would have turned out exactly the same, i think. pretty sure trump being the frontrunner is all the cause in the world for him getting enormous amounts of coverage

Why is the DNC involved in the republican primary election and not the democrats getting slaughtered in every state? Is that what they usually do?

The problem with trying to manipulate the opposing parties primary is that, if you succeed, then the "stronger" candidates weren't going to win anyways, by virtue of not being able to effectively handle you going "Boo this guy!" a few times. Trump won the primary because he was the strongest candidate and most capable of turning out the base. Despite losing 4 million republicans he managed to energize enough reps to replace what he lost, so that in the future a "civil" person paying lip service to the alt-right will end up with a larger base than if rubio, jeb, christie, etc. had won. People are delusional if they think that Jeb would have caused greater republican gains.

Like, any possible situation where the dems successfully lock in a weaker enemy is a situation where the dems could win against any of the enemies, because none of them can handle messaging and media during their big fake party feud.

Tight Booty Shorts posted:Why is the DNC comms team clearing the field for Hillary? Why is the DNC involved in the republican primary election and not the democrats getting slaughtered in every state? Is that what they usually do? in the year 2015, there were not very many state level elections for the dnc to get involved in. in fact, the big event was the on-going presidential primary. the dnc comms team, who has the job of promoting democrats and attacking the gop, had to come up with a comms strategy for that year, 2015. it's hard to promote your own candidates in the midst of a competitive primary without making people mad, so the party tends to focus on attacking the other guys. the rnc also focused on attacking the democrats, except they made the decision to focus their fire on the likely democratic nominee, hillary clinton. the dnc did not "clear the field" for hillary. hillary cleared the field herself - the dem bench was fairly thin and most pols had no desire to go up against her.

Tight Booty Shorts posted:Then why did the head of the DNC resign in shame? dws was (properly) forced out because a handful of emails, combined with her insistence on endorsing hillary while being head of dnc (which is irregular), created the appearance of a bias right as the party was nearing the democratic convention and needed unity. it was also clear that dws saw the emails and did nothing to tamp down on boiling attitudes against the sanders campaign within the dnc as the primary dragged on into april and may. dws also had a lot of enemies in the party, so there was definitely an element of some influential dems having the opportunity to take out the trash. there is nothing in the emails about clearing the field or whatever. probably the worst one was a staffer (i think some research guy?) suggested that they should spread rumors that sanders was an atheist in west virginia. which, of course, never happened, but the mere idea was bad enough to force his resignation along with a handful of other senior staffers who were on that chain.

DWS' greatest sin is that she actually was extremely mediocre in every way. If she was as catastrophic as some think she was she'd at least be funny but really she was just a useless wonk type that did almost nothing new and filled the exact role of the job and nothing more/bigger.

If you elect me in 2020 I will use my power as president and commander in chief of the military to force the Army Corps of Engineers to build and keep building. It doesn't matter what they build as long as it's built. It could be many things. And it'll be more successful than the mexico wall.
