I have a friend who does legal recruiting in Dallas and says her boss loudly says "I DON'T HEAR PEOPLE ON THE PHOOOOOONES." So, you know, at least you're not putting up with that.

first day on new doc review project at new place
get told we have to punch in and out of our computers and write in how many docs we do so we can see our speed
expected to do 85+ docs an hour
weekly performance review
mandatory one hour break unpaid

oh and then they say a team member ratted me out for dozing off a bit during an interminable client conference call where we sat silently while a handout was read aloud and it's my final warning before termination

which is good since I was feeling like workplace shootings have been minimal lately but now I can just get fired for having a kid wake me up before 6 am

You people need unions and a labour party, actually scratch that an actual communist party. This poo poo is ridiculous. People should feel safe walking the gently caress away from lovely jobs and bosses and you definitely need some labour laws.

Strong labour historically leads to higher wages for government employees, longer vacations and better benefits.

That's exactly who he's going to be because it beats writing his 100th motion to reduce bond for a dude jizzing in his stepkid's mouth, iirc.

I'm going to either work for the department of health or the state AG's office at this point from the looks of things. Or something, I suppose. I'm not too desperate to find a job even though I'd like one.

There were maybe a dozen through all three classes at any time i can think of at FSU. There are a lot of dumb veterans.

It’s easy to get state jobs, though.

Yeah, my office seems to hire pretty regularly.
The jobs are mostly in sacramento, which decreases competition, which is good because you can't live in the Bay Area making what we pay new lawyers.

I was friends with an ex-navy special ops guy in my class, we worked out together for a semester. He actually did pretty well.

Until he stayed up for several nights working on a memo and triggered his latent PTSD and bipolar disorder. Apparently, if you're prone to bouts of mania adderall can be a catalyst. He ended up dropping out and becoming a camp gladiator trainer. But not before displaying all kinds of disturbing behavior like doing birdcalls in the courtyard for an hour and threatening a dude at a party without provocation .
