The Midniter posted:Scorch is my man. But what the HELL do I do when a pilot is on a rooftop blasting me with a charge rifle? Even with a boost, I'm still too slow to get out of the way before he's hit me two or three times, and the thermite launcher is not exactly a precision pilot-sniping weapon. Some other good suggestions, but also just this: Get the gently caress out of there. You don't have to fight that pilot. Go farm AI, since scorch owns bones at that. He'll probably get impatient anyway and chase you letting you nail him.

This game keeps locking up and not giving me an error and the internet tells me to disable the Origin overlay. However having it disabled both in Origin's Application Settings > Origin In-game as well as Titanfall 2 Trial > Game Properties still fucken gives me the Shift F1 overlay???

Mr.Citrus posted:His entire ability set feels bad, and the kits all feel like things that should be a default part of him. The big thing with scorch is that the thermite launcher is absolute dogshit for anything other than igniting your incendiary traps. It's probably intended to balance the trap's high damage potential but it just feels akward and unfun to use, which is a shame because I like the rest of his kit a lot. I have a lot of fun running him with a friend in a northstar where I use the traps to try and block the red team from falling back into cover which works pretty well as long as they don't shoot past me and hit the northstar. Or if they have a tone.

Using steroids and wall running to a group of pilots and shotgunning them to death is one of the most satisfying things I have done in a shooter I don't see the point if pistols though

If you wait until they duck behind cover, they won't see you pop out of the titan and will keep focussed on it, so you can sneak up and take care of them.

I really wish Auto-Titan had some basic commands you could give it. Just stuff like "retreat", "hold position", or "attack last/my target".

Scorch's bread and butter damage dealers are firewall and the thermal shield. Basically just be throwing lines of hellfire out as soon as your cooldown is up, and dash forward to use the modified thermal shield right up in the enemy titan's face. You will legit get your flame core in around 5sec of face melting. His primary weapon is basically just for poking barriers as you close the distance to the enemy Titan, and it gets pretty easy to nail pilots with as long as they aren't above you. Scorch owns.

Even ignoring the realism angle, they serve a completely different purpose to your primary/AT so it makes zero sense to force you to pick between the two. If they didn't want people to have backup weapons then fair enough, but just remove pistols entirely rather than including them in a way where they're pointless except in one bad, niche game mode.

Scorch is probably one of my new favorite titans. It's an amazing damage dealer. My strategy when using it is to throw a gas trap behind an enemy titan and ignite it with firewall, then shield up their attacks while they fry up in all the thermite!!! Also when I see titans standing by for a pilot to get in them I gas trap the titan then ignite it as soon as the pilot gets in it.

Was pretty meh about it for a couple games but then it clicked and now I love it. It especially rocks on exoplanet where at the beginning you can stim to the roof of the building to the right and you are pretty much guaranteed 3-5 pilot kills at the beginning because people are usually bunched up together to shoot the first grunts and don't expect bombs to rain on them that early.

what are crits what is overcore What are the subtleties of titan combat that i am clearly missing

Zzulu posted:what are crits Crits are the above-mentioned glowy red spots on titans, or shots delivered unto said spots. As a pilot, hitting a titan anywhere with an anti-titan/grenadier/LMG will damage them, but with anything else you can only deal damage to the crit spots (and as a titan, shooting in a crit spot of course does more). Your core is the same meter in the bottom left that you use to get your titan; once you're in your titan get it to 100% to use you super-bad-rear end attack; overcore is an option in your titan loadout that lets your titan drop in with 30% of that meter already filled in. Titan combat subtleties vary from titan to titan and I'm sure other people have way better advice than I could ever provide.

Zzulu posted:what are crits Crits are when you shoot the glowing red bits on titans an reapers. It's more damage with titan weapons and pilot anti titan weapons, and the only way to damage them with pilot small arms. On titans they're typically the front of the cockpit and the shoulder vents. Overcore is a titan mod that starts your titan at 30% core (your ultimate) charge. It's good on Ion and Tone. For other subtleties, bear in mind that your titan is a lot more fragile than you'd think, so don't go all in too much and make good use of cover. Also don't get too focused on executing doomed titans, and use the most obnoxious camo you can.

Am I corrrect in thinking that while in Sword Core, I have to specifically press melee and not right trigger to get executions on enemy Titans? Or is it a matter of holding the button? It's also super annoying that I can't swap crouch and melee for Titan only.
