I broke my umbrella last week, and realized it was about 35 years old.

I've barely bought any physical books for years and my pile of unread books is still huge, despite reading at a steady rate. I was young and overeager, now I just hope to finish my backlog before I die

There's something to be said for a physical book being easier to concentrate on rather than one of my numerous literal distraction machines.

I started reading a lot more when I got a kindle but a while ago I decided to stop using Amazon products so I guess I'll have to wait til another company invents an e-reader that isn't dumb looking.

E-readers have probably progressed the slowest of all recently invented tech. They all still look like phones from 2010. And they're still in monochrome.

E-readers got better pixel density in that time and that’s the only improvement I needed.

I’ve been reading a lot more since I got a Kindle app for my phone. It’s really easy to just pull an entire library out when on the train or on a road trip without needing to pack multiple books every time I leave the state.

You can buy books from whatever service you like so long as it allows you to download the files, then use Calibre to convert them to the Kindle format. It's not hard to find add-ons for calibre that strip the DRM off ebooks.
