That looks terrible and I say that as someone who came of age religiously watching any and every airing of Entourage every single week, including reruns. The only interesting parts were skinny Turtle (who I hope gets some shine off of this) and the various camos they're going to shoehorn in. It must be painful for Jeremy Piven to have done this and realize his career will never be anything more than playing some variation of "Ari Gold".

This is a trailer and tv spot thread. The trailer looks good. It is a good trailer. The movie is fun but I wouldn't call it necessarily good, but then again I wouldn't call the show necessarily good.

If you're tired of the typical trailer formula, this should suit you nicely. The trailer for Dope: http://thedissolve.com/news/5201-the-teaser-trailer-for-dope-is-all-psychedelic-90s/ Kind of feels like a Linklater/Steven James lovechild.

Honestly it's probably a best-case scenario for the dude. I like Piven but he never had a ton of range or depth as an actor and did mostly bit parts before Ari Gold, a lush role that paints him as a pathetic-but-still-alpha-as-gently caress-to-those-who-care-about-such-things guy whose residuals from the show/movie will keep the lights on in his mansion for a good long while. A lot of very good actors never even get that.

I watched Entourage religiously, but really grew tired of it by the end. The first trailer actually surprised the hell out of me and made me want to see the movie - this trailer was like "Next Week on HBO" for an entire season, giving away virtually the entire plot and all the cameos. Killed any interest I had.

Don't think I saw this posted but I do skim a bit, trailer for Southpaw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D68vmev7KZc I have a fair bit of trust in what Gyllenhaal chooses but this is one of the worst trailers I've seen in ages. Hits so many cliched beats, gives away far too much plot, weird editing choices and the whole 5 seconds of a new Eminem song to make people watch it thing is odd. It might well be a decent movie but uggh

PTizzle posted:Don't think I saw this posted but I do skim a bit, trailer for Southpaw: Antoine Fuqua seems really similar to M Night Shyamalan, but working in a different genre. He gets a pass, and is *still* riding the Training Day gravy train, even though he hasn't directed a single good movie before or since. I wouldn't put it past Gyllhenhaal to pick a bad movie every once in a while- his incredible streak has to end at some point. Fuqua might get lucky if Gyllenhaal saves the movie with a great performance, but I agree with every single one of your points. The whole wife getting killed and then having to box his way to salvation is such a facile, misogynist wish-fulfillment bullshit premise.

Shooter was fantastic and both Olympus Has Fallen and The Equalizer were fun. Not feeling it with Southpaw, though. The main character seems too self-aware of how dysfunctional he is to fit what makes Fuqua's movies so great.

Dillbag posted:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Xt5tZyrMZI The Terminator franchise was never sacred, but this really does have the worst of the old and the new on display in this trailer. The "horror" of a killbot that won't stop coming has been passe since well, since the Terminator, and the constant fetishistic of iconography from T1 and T2 is symptomatic of the awful "reboots" of today. Plus I really don't think Emilia Clarke is a very good actress, although props to casting for getting someone who has the same awesome lips as Linda Hamilton.

From the look of that trailer it seems like they really are still using the leaked plot twist. That's bad news. It's literally the worst plot twist I can remember in recent years, and is definitely the worst one in Bond history. For anyone who doesn't know: Bond and Blofeld are adopted brothers.

It's pretty impressive at how they manage to keep coasting on raw aesthetic talent and actors like Craig, Bardem, and almost certainly Waltz.

While that trailer looks nice, the plot is going to be an unmitigated disaster. If they are still seriously keeping that leaked plot twist then I don't have much hope for the last third of the script they had to rewrite.
