Q for thread: if I make a thread about basic political theories and have links to formative texts and one or two texts studying them is that like, too simplistic? Or would that still be okay? Like, a section on fascism recommending for study and understanding Mussolini's fascist doctrines (as the basis) and Ecos essay "eternal fascism" and Mann's book on fascism as the two follow-ups? I was also going to use a poll to see where people in d&d fall politically but that's only sort of related to the main topic.

Or would that still be okay? Fascism as an ideology is a controversial idea. It's certainly not a coherent ideology. It does, however, have some common features. Two of those features are "irrationalism" and "anti-modernism" so fascism is hard to pin down precisely. You can talk about various strains of communism, liberalism and authoritarianism because those ideologies at least try to define themselves. Divine Right of Kings and Mandate of Heaven might seem quaint but you can point to something and say, "That is it." You can't really do that with fascism.
