I had open risky leveraged positions at the time that lost several hundred dollars as they plummeted and I was unable to close them. Any chance of an account credit? I doubt it as I'm sure outage liabilities are completely signed away in account agreements.

I'm just a lowly retail investor but I have no idea how this is acceptable, especially for larger accounts.

Unlikely. There is no way to show that ou absolutely would have sold. The only time when I worked brokerage that we actually made people whole was during the flash crash.

Sorry, that sucks.

That right there is a book about boats that some guy who can't even spell "boat" paid someone to write. But it's okay because his dad gave him a "#1 Boat Captain" onesie after reading "Boat Captaining for Dummies" to him.

Plus, if you don’t like the boat you got, you can always scuttle it and get the boat maker people to give you another one.

Edit Deutsch Boat is pretty reliable at giving you new boats, those suckers.

Relating to missing trades, a question on limit orders: these orders are visible to the market. At what volume of an order, and volume of a security/commodity is the presence of these orders impactful?

Specifically, if I have a limit order on a small position I have as a lowly retail trader, is there any affect? Should I be wary at all about showing my hand?

We've been above 2750 for a few minutes on relatively high volume so my guess is that cleared out a lot of sells.

So close, Iron Condor would have still been profitable if closed out early! I had some puts open during the big red candle so I ain't complaining

Yeah - that was interesting. Normally we get the 3:50 candle and the trend has a five to seven minute duration. Today it only made it three minutes. Then again, lower volume this afternoon.

Was the profit from this $525 - commissions?

The TOS outage really sucked. Makes me wonder what would happen if people were in leveraged positions, if there was a major sudden negative news event, how well are brokers and exchanges stress tested to handle the traffic? I would bet not sufficiently.

VVVVV Ughhh I still have so much to learn. It is incredibly opaque, the only way I can find this stuff is deep google searches to read articles on obscure trader blogs. Dunno how you guys built your knowledge :shobon:

Why not call it a consolidation?

I've seen a few small mining companies do them from time to time, the shares are only worth a few cents though.

Their bonds are trading at like 10-30 cents on the dollar with an effective yield of 700%

That is... not good.

Can you do a reverse split on bonds? Asking for an Oklahoma friend.

Maybe. What's surprising to me is that $DVN aka Devon Energy or one of $CHK's main competitors still has their bonds trading about par. Considering $CHK is probably going bankrupt, Devon would be the next major US energy player to go IMO.
