FooF posted:I think this was a "cart before the horse" draft. We could afford a luxury WR pick but instead went #1 with it. Collins and Brown were sitting right there. BPA doesn't make sense when the best safety in the draft is sitting there and we don't even have a starting SS. The rest of the draft addressed some needs but the O-line never got touched (RG and RT are huge concerns) and run-stoppers are still in short supply. From another perspective, the Colts simply double-downed on their strengths rather than rounding themselves out. A lot of teams passed on Collins and most people didn't consider him the best safety in the draft. Collins and Brown both have flaws, they would have filled needs but aren't super studs. They really feel like Dorsett will add a game changing slot receiver to the offense, so we'll see if that's the case. I was shocked at first but warmed up to it after hearing all the talk about it. But the rest of the Colts draft after that has been great! We've drafted DL and Secondary, both needs, and got good players. OT had a big rush on it so they probably didn't want to reach too hard.

He hasn't even been alleged to be the perpetrator of the murder yet, just a person of interest due to their previous relationship.

Texans pick up Lynden Trail, apparently a super raw guy with a lot of potential Probably never plays a down of NFL football e: The Seahawks signed a 34 year old longsnapper Ian Rapoport ✔@RapSheet !! RT @johnpboyle: Seahawks signed 34-year-old long snapper Nate Boyer, a Green Beret who enrolled at Texas when he was 29, per @NFLNetwork.

He doesn't get to go into next year's draft unless he challenges the NFL's CBA, which apparently has no language regarding this type of situation. That would seem like a pretty difficult case to win. He can sign as a UDFA right now but pretty sure that comes out of a limited pool

Per Field Gulls, the Seahawks have already signed 14 UDFAs, and still counting. Boyers is apparently a former Special Forces guy, seems like he's probably more of a PR signing. LB Alex Singleton, Montana State (6'2"/233, 4.65 forty, 15 bench, 31" vert, 10'00" broad, 4.25 shuttle, 7.13 cone) LS Nate Boyer, Texas (5'10"/216, 5.03 forty, 18 bench, 4.57 shuttle, 7.63 cone) RB Rod Smith, Ohio State (6'3"/231) LB Quayshawn Nealy, Georgia Tech (6'0", 236, 4.69, 20 bench, 35.5" vert, 9'08" broad, 4.34 shuttle, 7.17 cone) OL Jesse Davis, Idaho (6'6"/309, 5.28 forty, 26 bench, 30.5" vert, 9'00" broad, 4.85 shuttle, 7.41 cone) DB Trovon Reed, Auburn (6'0"/191, 4.54 forty, 35.5" vert, 10'01" broad, 4.44 shuttle, 6.90 cone) SS Ronald Martin, LSU (6'0"/200, 4.61 forty, 10 bench, 33.5" vert, 10'01" broad, 4.47 shuttle, 7.10 cone) FS Triston Wade, UTSA (5'11"/185, 4.57 forty, 7 bench, 35.5" vert, 10'01" broad, 4.20 shuttle, 7.33 cone) WR Austin Hill, Arizona (6'2"/214, 4.59 forty, 17 bench, 36.5" vert, 10'01" broad, 4.11 shuttle, 6.72 cone) WR Ross Apo, BYU (6'3"/212, 4.56 forty, 12 bench, 36.5" vert, 11'02" broad, 4.27 shuttle, 6.99 cone) RB Thomas Rawls, CMU (5'9"/215, 4.46 forty, 15 bench, 35.5" vert, 9'8" broad, 4.37 shuttle, 7.10 cone) SS Keenan Lambert, Norfolk State (6'0"/209, 4.62 forty, 17 bench, 31 reps, 9'06" broad, 4.35 shuttle, 7.14 cone) TE Michael Hartvigson, UW (6'6"/251, 5.03 forty, 15 bench, 33.5" vert, 9'07" broad, 4.43 shuttle, 7.08 cone) DT Tory Slater, WGU (6'4"/290, 4.95 forty, 31 bench, 35" vert, 10'03" broad) I'm most intrigued by Austin Hill, he was great at Arizona before his ACL went kaput. Wonder how well he's healed up.

From another perspective, the Colts simply double-downed on their strengths rather than rounding themselves out. I'm ok with the Dorsett pick. People get too zoned in on what the draft means for the 2015 season - a good 1st round pick nets you ROI all the way through 2019. If you look at the Colts receiving threats, they are certainly stacked for 2015, but look beyond that: Hilton - contract up after 2015 Fleener - contract up after 2015 Allen - contract up after 2015 Johnson - 34 years old, Colts may get only 0-1 productive years out of him Montcrief/Carter/everyone else - completely unproven If they truly think Dorsett was the best player available, it's a good pick. What separates the Colts from other teams is not an overabundance of talent, it's Andrew Luck, and making sure he has talented targets is priority numero uno. Mindless Blogger Short-Term Hole-Plugging (tm) says take Malcolm Brown or Landon Collins, but in 2016 and beyond the Colts may benefit from a good WR2 more than a good SS1.
